Great video , good explanation , you guys are lucky , here in Canada its around 80to 120 for some irrigation team to blow it out , I have been closing and opening the system here for easily 8 years now ,

Pay someone $30 bucks? In 2019 they were all charging around $95. As of last year the pros all want around $200! Thanks for the video.

Maybe where you are... Still $30 here even for the "pros" doing it. Based on your pricing it sounds like you have a mansion, so you may need to pay more for that which makes sense.

Holy Moly! I don't mean any disrespect to the producer of this video but talking a simple, simple procedure complicated, this is it. Blowing out these irrigation systems is so simple; it is important to have a 100+ psi compressor. Turn your water valve to the irrigation system of to cut off the water to the sprinklers, hook up your compressor with the device they show but any hardware store can supply. Hook your compressor to the irrigation system with the tube that is built into all systems. Start the compressor, let pressure build up and open and close each value just by turning it, leaving it open for 3-5 minutes, and turn on and off the rest of the valves. Look to see if water still coming out or just air. No more than 3 minutes usually. That's it. Some people make this so complicated; it's so easy!

Well a pancake compressor just does not have enough air to do it in one go. And if you already have a pancake compressor and don't want to go buy a new one or pay someone with a bigger compressor. Its a cheap way to go, but it does take longer to do. And I appreciate the feedback this video was meant to show you could do it and it works but at a cost of time.

Great video, your wife was making the same comments and asking the same questions I was thinking. So thank you Ma’ am.

Thank you. I knew how to do it but I needed some reassurance because I have an almost identical system. Appreciate it 👍

That was a wonderfully informative video! Thanks for posting. I'm wondering, rather than physically opening and closing each valve, couldn't you use your controller to open and close each valve?

Hi all, is 80 psi too much for the irrigation lines? I was told do 40 psi to avoid damaging lines. Thanks.
@habbadabbado57653 жыл бұрын
40 psi is sufficient, and safer
@habbadabbado57653 жыл бұрын
I’ve done this for many years and don’t exceed 40 psi, which is more than enough pressure to clear the lines.
@chrislatella42493 жыл бұрын
That is a test port and not where you want to hook air up. PSI is meaningless when blowing out sprinklers, you want to worry about CFM, hooking up there chokes your potential cfm before you even get started.

How long does this take you? And how long do you think it would take you if you had a larger compressor (e.g. 15gal)? Trying to decide between a 6gal pancake compressor or a larger one...
@MYCHANNELWITHMYSTUFF Жыл бұрын
The larger the tank the better because you will have more volume. That is the only difference between the pros blowing out your lines and DIY blowing out of your lines. Its all the same pressure setting between 60 & 80 psi. Pros have more volume going through the system which makes it faster. DIYers usually don't have high volume so it takes 45 minutes to an hour for a 4 zone blow out.

Where can I get the connector between hose and valve
@Whiteboardcoder7 күн бұрын
Well your system is not my system. if you go to HomeDepot/Lows you should be able to find a brass section with connectors. I had to coble a few different ones together to get it compatible with what I have

I have not done that video yet I need to get to it at some point :) But in all honesty once I set it up... I did not use it It was simpler to just use the rainbird controller

Do it right. Rent a large tow behind compressor.
@xex2kok2 жыл бұрын
What does "right" entail? Getting the job done? Because in that case you would be an idiot for renting one when it is so cheap to have others do it. It would cost you double or triple that to rent one. At the end of the day the pancake does it fine.

@DandoBorusu2 жыл бұрын
@@DanMcKelvey not suppose to blow compressed air through the backflow prevention valve. potential to damage... not the worst thing in the world, replacing the inside parts of the valve can be pricey. Its best to install an isolated blowout valve after the backflow valve.
