The CRV had a thermal meltdown watch as I tear it's B20 engine apart to see what went wrong.

Those Honda engines hate being overheated and usually it warps the block and head along with blowing the head gasket. My 1999 CRV overheated one time before because of a exploded radiator hose. The car must have been blessed at that time because it didn’t break anything.

Really enjoyed that one, good view of you and your tools working, I must invest in a 3/8 air ratchet! Your cordless one was one of your most used tools, I can't afford a battery one but I do have air so after watching your video it is clear how useful they are. I love Honda engineering so it was nice to see the engine survived, the head didn't stand a chance. Pass the word guys, if it is getting hot, get it fixed straight away. The longer you leave it the worse it gets.

common melding/breaking/warped timing belt covers. Cam caps have dowels and do get stuck. resurface with a new gasket is the only thing needed to get it running fine. a water pump and timing belt/tensioner would be the best time

I wasn't going to comment until you mentioned it. I have 04 crv smoking white . I was told I may need this process you just did. I couldn't believe how labor intensive. This auction car is a bad one. Other auction cars I did well but this...don't know, I wasn't careful enough buying it. Taught me a lesson. It's having trouble starting as well. Pray for me🤣. What year was this crv?

+Joseph Costello Amazed it cranked over again honestly. That's why ricers love Hondas, it's the only thing they can abuse for thousands and thousands of miles and still have it run!

Nothing like a little science to get your day started, so here we go! I googled a timing cover for this model CRV, found some images, they're stamped "PP-TD40" Which is a polypropylene plastic with 40% talc filler/strengthener. The key here is the polypropylene, I looked that up, and it has a melting point of 266 fahrenheit, so that means the block was pretty damn close to that temperature down where those bolts connected the belt cover onto the engine. I'm not sure entirely what that means, other than the vehicle probably operates at 205 or so degrees and it got to at least 266, could even hotter around the pistons.

Might as well replace the whole motor with a Jdm b20b. Probably would be cheaper in the long run to go that route too.

When these engines are overheated they like to drop the cylinder liners so you have to deck the block too.

could start a vtec conversion at this point... because racecar! I kinda want to do that to my car, but not going to happen though because I don't have a backup car yet.

Bp1033 and this motor is not one one that you could make into a v Tec I don't think and get another motor a v Tec . you should see the improvement intake manifold that most 2001s have runs a a lot smother
