I don't necessarily come here specifically for transmissions, I just enjoy watching people who have mastered their craft and are living encyclopedias. I don't care if it's a blacksmith forging a sword, a doctor performing surgery or an artist painting a picture. Richard is like the Bob Ross of transmissions, and probably engines and all the other parts of a car. He doesn't take time out to show just one aspect and focus on that. No. It flows out of his head as he's going thru the steps and is divulging tons of info just out of doing his job. And the camera work makes it pleasing to watch. Many channels have lost my sub from poor camera work. If I can't enjoy it and not be annoyed, I move on. Love it!

I got a 1963 Catalina from my older brother in 1980 black faded paint 389 2speed all original beautifull crome dash 2door. 12 months and traded it for a 1971 grand Prix. That was special ordered lady owned a bar and checked every box on the right side of the order form. 455SD. Dove it through high school 160:000 miles when we pulled the motor down showed no ware to block or crank . After leaving rubber at 1/2 the stops it made. Lol was hooked on Pontiac with the 63 Catalina 2-speed was not a slipper tranny wish I had it today great show as always thank you.

True story. Back when I was a kid my pal Ray's mom had a 1963 Catalina with the old roto-hydramatic. Wouldn't go into reverse. His older brother worked at a Goodyear shop as a tire buster. So he told us to get mom's car and we'll put it on the lift and take a look. So that's what we did. Nothing looked broken or out of adjustment. So...he just took a big hammer and beat the shift lever until it went into reverse. Put it down and it worked fine until she traded it in on a 68 Charger.

Installing the motor quick.. I was replacing the 2.8 GM in my Jeep Comanche when my neighbor came by and said, he would give me a hand installing it, when he gets back in 15 minutes. I chuckled, no pun intended as his name is Chuck. He left to do whatever when he got back in 15 minutes, I had installed it, including mounting the clutch/transmission, linkage, exhaust, plug electrical and fuel lines.. He got back and said as he was walking up, let's get hat little beast installed. I said, too late. He thought I was joking until he saw it for himself.. I told him, I done enough of replacing engines they are a walk in the park for, as second nature.. It's great to have a truck that sits high enough off the ground to get underneath it..

Thanks for the videos. You are a good help for the home builders like me. Did you happen to find the “smoking gun” for the slow reverse? My recent th350 build has the same issue, I need to rev it up to about 1500rpm to get the reverse to move the truck; stock converter. All other gears seem to work just fine. Started rebuilding another core to swap in.

I got lucky and picked up a Casdy trans that takes 6,6 and 4 clutches instead of 5,5 and 3. Then i found i can add even more clutches if you have thin clutches and steels.

A betting person would say they are trying to re-activate their old account with new content but trying to do it on the sly. Last year, they had a pissing match with their son and he took the original channel away from them. They started a new channel but after one year, it only has 25K subs. The original channel has over 200K. It appears that somehow they have regained access to the original channel and are trying to advance it.

As far as filters go, what's your thoughts on a filter on cooler lines?
@jraydelatorre
@jraydelatorre Ай бұрын
I’ve had in-line filters and because of the metal that leaves the torque converter and pump area. The first place it goes is into the transmission where it is dumped and picked up by the first filter, which is the one in the bottom of the pan, unfortunately and with my experience, all the in-line filter did was clogged and make things worse. The bottom line is when you have metal you have catastrophic failure of a transmission and no filter is gonna prevent that from happening not even magnetics because most of the metal or some of it is metallic the most part is fine powdered aluminumand brassy or copper material non-metallic or magnetic
@jraydelatorre
@jraydelatorre Ай бұрын
One of the main purposes and design of the filter is to collect and prevent the material from the break in process from re-entering into the transmission pump as it comes off of the clutches and it will. But it will not contain any metallic particles it is mostly paper and organic hydroscopic material the filter is just preventing the material from causing damage to the pump and seals and bushings and bearings it for the most part will be washed straight down into the bottom of the pan and it is very very little and a lot of times it will just cake, and remain caked into the bottom of the pan.

@PrecisionTransmission I have a question that relates to a 1997 Jaguar XJ6,.. Do you fool with those style of transmission on rebuilding? The reason for asking is,... a buddy of mine has one that reverse doesn't work in right,... I think what he done was floor board stop and slammed into drive from park and I think it busted the reserve pin because reverse doesn't work now but all other forward gears seem to operate like suppose to The reason for asking is we have been looking for like 2 years now to replace with another but to no avail,.. just wondering if you do and how much replying here would be fine if you get the time Keep up the great content,... I am no tranny man lol,... hope y'all stay safe and greasy ROFL
What’s it really take for a 4L60e to handle BIG HORSEPOWER & LAST!!!
