1. The one water with steam is safe because they bug out really hard if they go up and down (kills you in pipes not in the water) and it was easier to remove the acid effect than the oscillating 2. Placing Technomancer before pebbles was built makes very little sense considering how overgrown all the areas are. Surely the Ancients wouldn't want their supercomputer children to be covered in moss and vines. At least that's what I thought at first, but thinking about it, the only Iterator area we go through is pre-collapse Moon. All the other areas like shaded and outskirts were already abandoned at this point, so the overgrowth does make some sense. I'd reduce how thick the overgrowth is in those areas however. The idea that the plants grew that much between the Ancients leaving the surface and Pebbles being built but still looking exactly the same once the main game happens just doesn't make sense.
