I'm not a blacksmith, but I am a swordfighter based on kenjutsu and as a user, I have some hints to give: - The hilt is short, it needs to be a little bit longer in order to use the Te No Uchi grip, whitch is a two handed technique based on using the centripetal force pulling the extremities of the hilt in opposite sides. - You have to harden just the blade's cutting edge. The blade's back must to be soft to bend and swing to absorb the impact, preventing the blade to break. But it's a beautiful start. I hope I can see you forging some real katana shortly. The tang is about the length it needs to be the handle needs to be at least 2/3 of the tang

dear friend why you hardened the whole sword? i think you had to harden just the blade as hardened part will receive the impact and bend instead of breaking. thanks for accepting my comment

Это сколько же сил, ушло на изготовление, этого холодного оружия. По моему, по башке стукнуть, этим амортизатором противника, дешевле будет. Правда не так эстэтично, но зато без материальных затрат. А эффект будет таким же. 🥴😅🤫🤭🤗👍

Бутылку с водой я и своим охотничьим топором разрублю! Катану интереснее было бы тестировать на растущем дереве а потом проверить остроту лезвия

I see very little forging and a whole lot of stock removal... End result looks good don't get me wrong but saying you forged this to shape..... You didn't forge the tang.... Didn't forge any bevels

This is not even what I would consider a katana shaped object. Do any of you home grown sword smiths even do any research on the katana and its ratios or why those ratios even exist in the different kinds of katanas? This size would equate to a wakizashi but it is all wrong. Do some study on the katana and make something that resembles a katana before you call it a katana. This sword has more in common with a machete or a battle axe than a katana.
