Am impressed. One huge mistake very very common in modern (western) knife/sword making is to make the tang too narrow and to file deep 90degs for the hilt, creating extreme weakness prone to blade snapping at those points. I'm so very happy and impressed you did NOT make these mistakes. Not particularly fond of your Tsuba because being solid steel it is heavy adding unnecessary weight to the sword. If it were skeletonized more, it would drastically help this issue. Otherwise, I love your work. Well done!!
@mrkiky9 ай бұрын
Tsuba was usually made of iron though and often not skeletonized at all.

Absolutely amazing sword!! Although im a little curious why you decided to go with silver on some of the parts that are brass or gold on the sandai kitetsu? did you think it would clash too much with the blade itself?

Well done, but if may ask why you all most made all grinding after heat treatment ? I am not complaining 😅 but to learn
@Arts-and-Crafts9 ай бұрын
Thank you, sharpening after heat treatment prevents the blade from bending or deforming because the thickness of the unsharpened blade will reduce that!

I Apologise if I'm the only one asking but.. What's the purpose of putting these chains inthe base of the anvil? I see a lot of other Makers do it too
@Arts-and-Crafts9 ай бұрын
Very interesting question, in my opinion it brings a sound that reflects the strength of the blacksmith's muscles, secondly it increases the weight of the anvil to reduce vibration! Third is probably aesthetics!!
