I like this movie a lot... Meryl, Goldie, Bruce and Isabella are amazing in it. And it get an Oscar for special effects so... yes. Pretty amazing effects for 1992. And cool message in that story too...

I have both UK DVD and German Blu ray. German Blu ray is really good. Aspect ratio is different. German blu ray also includes tv spots where you can see some of little bit of deleted scenes.

The German br release has a photogallery with lots of rare stills from deleted scenes... lots of Tracey Ullman in there, and very nice poster concept art as well. Somehow the collectors edition in USA had nothing interesting. The German release has an amazing B-roll as well.

They need to release a DVD with all the cut footage and deleted scenes, even an "Original" or "Director's Cut" version would be awesome to see. It is one of my all-time favorite films and would love a complete DVD with all the extras.

Yes! I was an unwitting extra for 2 days during the hospital scene and saw them filming a lot more with Bruce Willis and the floating nuns in the hospital with Matt Frewer as an orderly. Also Saw then film some scenes with Goldie Hawn who I don’t think was even in that scene in the final film? Been so long since I watched it.

​​​​​@@TimBurVlogs Thanks for the info! Yes during the morgue scene there was a deleted portion when a worker can hear Madeline muffled voice but he thinks someone is playing a prank. He has a dead priest out on the slab. When Ernest comes in he asks if he can say goodbye to Mad so the worker puts the priest back into the drawer and goes out into the hall but he doesn't close the lock of the drawer correctly. So when Ernest is talking to Madeline the priest comes rolling back out and hits Ernest in the butt. Then there was a deleted scene with the two orderlies outside of the autopsy room and the worker is telling them to knock of their funny games but they don't know what he's talking about. Then Ernest and Madeline burst out of the Morgue and Madeline goes: False alarm! and they walk on. The worker is left confused. Goldie is supposed to be in a deleted scene at the Beverly Hills Hotel calling to the Menville mansion but maybe they changed up something... There was a big scene removed when Ernest has dropped of Mad back home he goes get formaldehyde and he then drives on to the Beverly Hills hotel but Helen was secretly following him so she has to arrive there before him. She runs a red light, almost hits a valet and then hits the bagage cart. Runs inside to get rid of her Madeline obsession shrine. Ernest then arrives and goes on about Mad's miracle and Helen says they have to get rid of the body but Ernest says it's not needed. She then throws a glass of water in his face. He sits her down and tells her he still loves her but he has a duty to Madeline now. He leaves and Helen again has torn her hand open with a hankerchief and screams. This was followed by another big deleted scene that takes place the next morning when the maid discovers Mad stuffed in a freezer. Ernest says its just a beauty treatment and takes out Mad and tells her to act alive. She cracks and tries to walk to the maid to tell her she is fine while she waves with her frozen broken hand. The maid is laid off and leaves. Ernest carries Mad up the stairs (pieces of this scene is in the trailer). Robert Zemeckis said he cut like 8 characters with speaking roles... I know of: Tracey Ullman (the whole subplot) Nancy Fish (3 deleted scenes) Adam Storke (1 deleted scene, midday, in bed with Madeline) The movie has more than 30 deleted scenes... many big ones.

I really like Robert Zemeckis and I actually didn't watch Death Becomes Her until a few months ago. I thought that it was pretty decent.

Yeah, even his so-called misfires (like the underrated What Lies Beneath) are worth watching. The only flicks of his I can't get into are the CGI ones, just because the character designs freak me out!

I've never seen What Lies Beneath from beginning to end. The Polar Express and A Christmas Carol are the only CGI Movies from Robert Zemeckis that I've seen and I love both of them. I saw A Christmas Carol in the Cinema eight days after it opened and the 3D Presentation was amazing. It was the best 3D experience I've gotten from a movie.

I've got a copy of this on Hi-Vision LD! Really do enjoy this film though like you say in some ways it never really quite fires on all thrusters. If the special features of this got a better review I might consider, but think I'm gonna stick with Hi-Vision!!

Nice! I'm looking forward to finally checking out a MUSE player in person at the Chicago LaserCon later this year. I don't see too many people showing off copies of Death Becomes Her on the format - nice score!

Death Becomes Her is a decent flick. I never noticed that it was Bruce Willis, for some reason I thought it was Rick Moranis until a couple of years ago.

I could totally see him playing that role too - he'd have most likely approached it differently than Willis did, but it would have worked!

Yeah, it's too bad Scream Factory has to region lock their releases as part of their licensing agreement with the studios. Like you said, a lot of cool extras get held back from fans because of it.

​​​@@Culturedog This collectors (you can use that term very loosely) release had nothing interesting really. The German br release has better stuff. They really lazied out with the US release. The new making off was a joke. Nothing about the set design, nothing about the costuming, the make up... nothing about the 30+ deleted scenes and original ending... it was a total fail.

Really OBNOXIOUS opening music dude - good review otherwise
