Hotel? Trivago I was just saying this morning the exact same thing. Maybe my worst pet peeve is that (as I’m currently diagnosed with severe OCD and ADD) people say “Oh it’s just my OCD kicking in like it’s a thing that everyone has. It’s a genuine medical condition and everyone sees it as a joke. Having ADD aswell everybody says “ Well everybody has a bit of ADHD” and I’m like, no I’ve had to live with it for 21 years and I can’t concentrate on anything for more than 30 seconds whilst not on Ritalin. Jeez.
@hoteltrivago38575 жыл бұрын
LemonZest everyone thinks oh if I keep my stuff neat and straight they have ocd and I’m sitting there - an actual person with ocd- thinking that’s not it. That’s just the stereotypical thought when someone says ocd, to think of neatness. I think most kids like self diagnosing themselves to make themselves different or to excuse some of their behaviour without really thinking that it may be offending to people with the actual disorder or illness.

The whole counting thing & not walking on cracks was pretty accurate. I used to have it really bad when i was younger, now I managed to 'control' it. I had to do everything an even amount of times with every side, just like the guy crossing the street. Of course it's never the same for everyone.
@mariadowling56077 жыл бұрын
Tom V. yeah that seems to be a pretty common one. one thing i do, is like, i believe i have to do something, a specific amount of times, in order to stay safe and keep other people safe. for example, if i had a thought, like a bad thought, about death & someone in my family dying, i have to do 3 small strokes on the temple of the left side of my head. and it’s always 3 times per person. if i had an anxiety thought about my whole family, i’d have to do 8 lots of 3 strokes (8 being the number of people in my family)

REGULAR PERSON: Skipping over sidewalk lines is fun. I do it all the time and get bummed out if I miss one! Golly! I'm so OCD! PERSON WITH OCD: I had to go back home 3 times because I stepped the wrong way, which made me severely late to work. Again. Also my mind will haunt me with debilitating, invasive thoughts about how everything is now gone to hell for the next week over this. And I know it doesn't make sense, but logic doesn't make it go away. I hate everything, and my life is much harder than it has to be because of my goddamned broken brain. EDIT: Can't believe how many people liked this. I don't have OCD, but someone extremely close to me does and I have tried my utter best to listen, debunk myths, and not try to make sense of it. This disorder is cruel PRECISELY because it doesn't make sense! And people with OCD know this. It's heartbreaking.

I deal with the same OCD as this guy, literally everything shown in this video is what i do but slightly different.. it’s crazy cause I didn’t think someone suffered OCD similar to mine.
@aloalo37274 жыл бұрын
I do 90% of this video but never ever thought I had OCD!? I have extreme ADHD diagnosed last year. I count EVERYTHING. Brushing my teeth-right side first because right is right-1 2 3 4 5 6 7-switch to left (which is a 4 letter word correlating with H E L L).1 2 3 4 5 6 7. Hair same way. I would organize rooms based off of number of tiles. When I walk I just start counting everything and it can't be odd numbers because odd is not square but even is right except for if its a number 4 or number 6 because remember 4 is or could be H-E-L-L and theoretically 6 could represent H-E-A-V-E-N but 6 is the beginning of 666- which is 3 numbers and 3 is an odd number representing left direction-WRONG DIRECTION-I always have to stay right or I could die and go to HELL. Oops I brushed 8 times on this side!!!!! HURRY U BETTER FIX IT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! 8X2 is 16- now im equating hmmmm 16 has the number 6 and 6x1 is 6 and we all know what that means but the only other option is to add 1 to 16 and that is 17 but that's an odd number so I have to add the numbers together and 7+1 is 8! So back to the right side for 8 brushes-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-back to the left-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8- man that was such a waste of time. I really should pay more attention so I don't have to waste my time. When walking I count how many steps in one direction or to a certain spot then I have to walk the same amount of steps to the next "check point". I count how many times I chew a bite of food because I have to chew each bite the same amount of times for the same dish in 1 setting. If i have a different food item obviously I start the count over. Example-if I eat steak for lunch I will count the number of chews on the first bite and round up to the next even number (unless it involves a 6 of course! Who wants to fix that clerical error) it has to be an even number so I can divide by 2 and chew each bite equally on each side. If I had leftovers and then ate the same steak for dinner then obviously I would have to default to the number of chews for lunch. I couldn't make a new count as this would mean that I must have miscalculated the previous meals chew count and I can't even understand how to correct that except subtract 2 from the number of the dinner chews and eat every bite with 2 less chews which is a form of punishment because now the food won't be all the way chewed and it will be hard to swallow which is exactly what u deserve for cheating the lunch steak chews!!!! Now had it been a completely different steak the chew count would start over because it hasn't been accounted for in terms of chews.

BRO SAME, i've been doing some extra research on people's experiences with different disorders to see how they compare to my experiences and i was legitimately in tears at the end of this video because i genuinely thought i was alone with how i processed these things but seeing people in the comments relating and complaining makes me feel like i'm not as weird as my childhood classmates made me out to be update!! though i know no one cares, i just got diagnosed with ocd!!!! it feels like such a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, to be officially told what is wrong with me and that it's okat that my brain does the things it does. i for sure know what's going on now, and it doesn't feel scary anymore!! i have nobody to share this with rn, but i figure if anyone is to understand, it'd be strangers who are struggling the same way.

Yeah, there are people that only pretend to have or not to have something, but if someone says that they don't have something, have something, or _are_ something, then people should respect that. Elaine Wireman I count syllables of words and the amount of letters in them. I try to get certain phrases to add up to numbers that are randomly significant to me. Usually the phrases are lyrics from songs, but not all of them. The numbers I add up to change every month or so. At the moment I am obsessed with saying phrases with either 4 syllables and 9 letters (equalling 13) or 3 syllables and 10 letters (also 13). Example: The thing is. We are all a. I do it so often it has taken over my life. It sounds so dumb so I won't explain all the stuff I do or I'll be here forever.

When im drawing and make a tiny mistake I always get so angry because I want no mistakes but it always happens because not everything can be perfect. It's like that with many things for me.
@charlieantfarm74886 жыл бұрын
ARandomSWBF Player I’m here to tell you that you aren’t alone lol. since I was in Elementary school (where it was at its absolute worst) I would count the letters in any sentence, poster or word problem - pretty much any text that I could see - and would count the letters in groups of 4 to see if all the letters could be grouped into 4’s or not. It got so bad that I would count the dot and the line on an exclamation point as two separate characters to round it in groups of 4. luckily i’ve kinda gotten it under control, I had the same problem with keeping things completely even as well and while the groups of 4 thing still persists today the even sides thing has remained dormant for the most part

As someone with OCD, I really like how they found a way to show how you feel when something is messed up (in this case, the high pitched sound and color change) Any time that I do something wrong, I get a feeling in my chest that makes me want to correct it, so I do. This video is rlly relatable and I’m glad there’s something out there that can help other people understand what we feel. Ofc it’s different for everybody, and not everyone with OCD has the same experience.

Lol I’m surprised how accurate this is. For the record, it’s not usually like an actual monologue; more it’s just a kind of rhythm that you get into sometimes without realizing it, where if something is off or you go off that rhythm, you get some sort of emotional response like being uncomfortable, panicked, or frustrated. The monologue is just to show what those patterns are, like how you have to do something a certain way, zipping backpack from left to right always, ALWAYS doing x before y before z, that kind of thing. Just to try and explain it to someone without OCD lol, it’s really intrusive and it feels like everything is governed by rules or must be done a certain way, very difficult to live with depending on how severe it is.

I feel like I even was at risk of developing some of these tendencies. I'd do this thing where I would cough and blink strictly in patterns. cough, blink, then blink, cough to balance it out. then gotta go the other way around, blink, cough, then cough, blink. there, now the whole set is totally balanced out. I caught myself doing that and just stop myself now. it is hard to break the habit though cause once you notice an opportunity to fulfill a pattern it becomes tough to ignore the fact that you're breaking the pattern. the simplest example is the sidewalk cracks. if you try to stop the nonsense of not stepping on cracks you end up aiming for the cracks on purpose, and that in itself becomes just another pattern. it's actually hard to just walk and not pay attention to it. it consumes your attention.

The struggle. I also have to do that thing where I balance things too like when I eat gummy bears (lmao) the first one I’ll suck the next one all chew then the last one I’ll half suck and chew it. And the sad bit is that when I was younger before I got diagnosed I was just weird. I hate it. And on top I have adhd so keeping a schedule to do things is tough and I feel like no one understands

OCD isn’t just having all of these “odd” habits and liking everything a certain way. It’s performing all of these little rituals because you constantly fear something bad will happen if you don’t. You’re plagued throughout by thoughts of death, disasters occurring, things happening to your loved ones, and you feel that the only way to stop these things from happening is through these rituals and avoiding your superstitions.

Aww, I’m so glad that I was able to capture what this feels like for some of us. I also have been clinically diagnosed with ocd and I too am very familiar with the daily struggle and suffocating inner monologue. I hope y’all have found helpful ways to manage and I truly truly wish you guys good health and peace.

Ashley Duncan I’m not a fan of self diagnosis, and I don’t really think I have OCD, but this ha been pretty true for me in the past. Before I went to bed I used to look at my pc and tap it in certain places correctly before I could step up the stairs in a certain way. It was so weird looking at it from any perspective but mine.

Idk if this is still OCD but here are some things I noticed in the vid that made me anxious: -He's always on the left side of the road. -He touches stuff with only one hand and not both. -The backpack's big zipper is not perfectly placed in the center. -His footsteps' distance from each other aren't the same. -He saw the red car and red bushes on his left side and he didn't turn around so he could also see it on his right side.

I thought I just write about myself. Maybe Someone feels like me. When I was about ten years old it started just out of no where. I needed to go to the toilet a few times before I went to bed (I’ve slept in a bed with my mum until I was like 12-13) it took hours sometimes for me to sleep because I always thought “omg I need to go to the toilet again” kind of afraid i think, that I’d pee in the bed. This someday stopped and i started to think I will kill my mom when I was like 14. Used to put a stool in front of my bed every night (I was afraid of killing her sleep walking, even though I’ve never ever even sleep walked) had thoughts about thinking I’m pedophile. Since I’m 15 I’m together with my boyfriend who suffers from anxiety and panic attacks which of course in no way it’s his fault but this kind of triggered this new thing where I’m afraid of being sick and infect my loved ones. I most of the time count 30 second while washing hands, sometimes with starting over counting. I wash my hands so often after like touching things I think that are “dirty”, stuff I touched once not even thinking about washing my hands because of that. My hands often burn and the skin is so dry because of washing them so often. I also shower way longer than i once did. I need to wash certain stuff 2 times and and and....always afraid of getting illnesses. I’ve just been to a therapist 1-3 times when I was like 17, he recommended me a book. Since then I haven’t done anything about it. It Switches from one “main” thing to the other. It honestly controls so much of my day, especially my brain.

I also thought I would kill a family member and that I was a pedophile and hated it so much. I can't talk about my strongest obsession because I think if I talk about it it'll become true, I had written a longer comment but I had to delete it.

Now I have a video to show to the people who say that something is “triggering their OCD” when they clearly don’t actually suffer from OCD. It’s a lot more serious than people think it is. It’s not just perfectionism.

This is me all day every day. I don't finish tests because I colour in my numbers, I erase everything when I do something wrong and start my test from scratch. I'm always late because I'm crying while trying pacing back and forth my room until I feel ok. Thoughts keep coming into my mind telling me to redo something or try again. It's torture. I have to randomly touch people's school bags, which make convos hella awkward. I have these compulsions where the whole world is one memory game, and I'm constantly losing no matter how much I try to remember. It just makes everything really annoying and hard. Won't even get into how ADHD comes into play with this. Remember OCD is a form of anxiety, a stress that can only be released with compulsions. It was amazing to see this as an inside to my every day life. Masterpiece, keep it up! Have a good day anyone (if they do) read this. :)
