Hotel? Trivago I was just saying this morning the exact same thing. Maybe my worst pet peeve is that (as I’m currently diagnosed with severe OCD and ADD) people say “Oh it’s just my OCD kicking in like it’s a thing that everyone has. It’s a genuine medical condition and everyone sees it as a joke. Having ADD aswell everybody says “ Well everybody has a bit of ADHD” and I’m like, no I’ve had to live with it for 21 years and I can’t concentrate on anything for more than 30 seconds whilst not on Ritalin. Jeez.

LemonZest everyone thinks oh if I keep my stuff neat and straight they have ocd and I’m sitting there - an actual person with ocd- thinking that’s not it. That’s just the stereotypical thought when someone says ocd, to think of neatness. I think most kids like self diagnosing themselves to make themselves different or to excuse some of their behaviour without really thinking that it may be offending to people with the actual disorder or illness.

And remember that this isn't just 9 minutes, people with OCD go through this for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's so mentally exhausting, even thinking about how much time a day I spend compulsing and not doing other things like normal people makes my head hurt.

@aloalo3727
@aloalo3727 3 жыл бұрын
I do 90% of this video but never ever thought I had OCD!? I have extreme ADHD diagnosed last year. I count EVERYTHING. Brushing my teeth-right side first because right is right-1 2 3 4 5 6 7-switch to left (which is a 4 letter word correlating with H E L L).1 2 3 4 5 6 7. Hair same way. I would organize rooms based off of number of tiles. When I walk I just start counting everything and it can't be odd numbers because odd is not square but even is right except for if its a number 4 or number 6 because remember 4 is or could be H-E-L-L and theoretically 6 could represent H-E-A-V-E-N but 6 is the beginning of 666- which is 3 numbers and 3 is an odd number representing left direction-WRONG DIRECTION-I always have to stay right or I could die and go to HELL. Oops I brushed 8 times on this side!!!!! HURRY U BETTER FIX IT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! 8X2 is 16- now im equating hmmmm 16 has the number 6 and 6x1 is 6 and we all know what that means but the only other option is to add 1 to 16 and that is 17 but that's an odd number so I have to add the numbers together and 7+1 is 8! So back to the right side for 8 brushes-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-back to the left-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8- man that was such a waste of time. I really should pay more attention so I don't have to waste my time. When walking I count how many steps in one direction or to a certain spot then I have to walk the same amount of steps to the next "check point". I count how many times I chew a bite of food because I have to chew each bite the same amount of times for the same dish in 1 setting. If i have a different food item obviously I start the count over. Example-if I eat steak for lunch I will count the number of chews on the first bite and round up to the next even number (unless it involves a 6 of course! Who wants to fix that clerical error) it has to be an even number so I can divide by 2 and chew each bite equally on each side. If I had leftovers and then ate the same steak for dinner then obviously I would have to default to the number of chews for lunch. I couldn't make a new count as this would mean that I must have miscalculated the previous meals chew count and I can't even understand how to correct that except subtract 2 from the number of the dinner chews and eat every bite with 2 less chews which is a form of punishment because now the food won't be all the way chewed and it will be hard to swallow which is exactly what u deserve for cheating the lunch steak chews!!!! Now had it been a completely different steak the chew count would start over because it hasn't been accounted for in terms of chews.

BRO SAME, i've been doing some extra research on people's experiences with different disorders to see how they compare to my experiences and i was legitimately in tears at the end of this video because i genuinely thought i was alone with how i processed these things but seeing people in the comments relating and complaining makes me feel like i'm not as weird as my childhood classmates made me out to be update!! though i know no one cares, i just got diagnosed with ocd!!!! it feels like such a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, to be officially told what is wrong with me and that it's okat that my brain does the things it does. i for sure know what's going on now, and it doesn't feel scary anymore!! i have nobody to share this with rn, but i figure if anyone is to understand, it'd be strangers who are struggling the same way.

I thought I just write about myself. Maybe Someone feels like me. When I was about ten years old it started just out of no where. I needed to go to the toilet a few times before I went to bed (I’ve slept in a bed with my mum until I was like 12-13) it took hours sometimes for me to sleep because I always thought “omg I need to go to the toilet again” kind of afraid i think, that I’d pee in the bed. This someday stopped and i started to think I will kill my mom when I was like 14. Used to put a stool in front of my bed every night (I was afraid of killing her sleep walking, even though I’ve never ever even sleep walked) had thoughts about thinking I’m pedophile. Since I’m 15 I’m together with my boyfriend who suffers from anxiety and panic attacks which of course in no way it’s his fault but this kind of triggered this new thing where I’m afraid of being sick and infect my loved ones. I most of the time count 30 second while washing hands, sometimes with starting over counting. I wash my hands so often after like touching things I think that are “dirty”, stuff I touched once not even thinking about washing my hands because of that. My hands often burn and the skin is so dry because of washing them so often. I also shower way longer than i once did. I need to wash certain stuff 2 times and and and....always afraid of getting illnesses. I’ve just been to a therapist 1-3 times when I was like 17, he recommended me a book. Since then I haven’t done anything about it. It Switches from one “main” thing to the other. It honestly controls so much of my day, especially my brain.

I also thought I would kill a family member and that I was a pedophile and hated it so much. I can't talk about my strongest obsession because I think if I talk about it it'll become true, I had written a longer comment but I had to delete it.

As someone with OCD, I really like how they found a way to show how you feel when something is messed up (in this case, the high pitched sound and color change) Any time that I do something wrong, I get a feeling in my chest that makes me want to correct it, so I do. This video is rlly relatable and I’m glad there’s something out there that can help other people understand what we feel. Ofc it’s different for everybody, and not everyone with OCD has the same experience.

Even if i dont have ocd, i still take notice in so many little things i see when i walk to school, the people, the cars, the trams, the run down buildings, the cracks on the pavement, the grass in between those cracks, the nature and the roads, i dont care if something is imperfect, but i certainly notice the little things you notice

The whole counting thing & not walking on cracks was pretty accurate. I used to have it really bad when i was younger, now I managed to 'control' it. I had to do everything an even amount of times with every side, just like the guy crossing the street. Of course it's never the same for everyone.
@mariadowling5607
@mariadowling5607 6 жыл бұрын
Tom V. yeah that seems to be a pretty common one. one thing i do, is like, i believe i have to do something, a specific amount of times, in order to stay safe and keep other people safe. for example, if i had a thought, like a bad thought, about death & someone in my family dying, i have to do 3 small strokes on the temple of the left side of my head. and it’s always 3 times per person. if i had an anxiety thought about my whole family, i’d have to do 8 lots of 3 strokes (8 being the number of people in my family)

Finally someone that says they are only a perfectionist! Also I feel bad for you man. :/ I hate it when people act like they know everything better than us. Yeah, there are people that only pretend to have or not to have something, but if someone says that they don't have something, have something, or _are_ something, then people should respect that. If someone is lying, you can probably / sometimes tell, but people should still be careful, if they aren't lying. But I still believe you.

I am a perfectionist too! And I hate people who say they have OCD that stands for ‘Obsessive Compulsive Disorder’ not ‘I need everything to be organized’. It is also like how people say they have depression and they act all sad when they are just attention-seekers.

I watched this video for the first time a few years ago when my ocd started getting really bad. This video made me feel like I wasn’t going crazy and like this was actually something that other people were going through that could be explained. It gave me a name to call the disorder that I didn’t even know I was dealing with. Even if it’s kind of stupid this video honestly means a lot to me and I just remembered it and wanted to come back to it to thank the people who made it for representing such a misunderstood and stereotyped disorder, and showing 11 year old me that I wasn’t completely insane.

I suspect I have ocd (in a legitimate way), and although I don't have all these types of compulsions, I like the way this video demonstrates the thoughts and the overload moments (when the video colors turn negative+high pitch sound). It's a very good way to convey what's going on inside.

For me the constant (re)organising, doubt and need for security, desperate need for cleanliness and the consistent and constant need to “level everything out”, isn’t even the worst. It’s the intrusive thoughts about death and other bad things happening to people you care for. Those are the most horrific thoughts that pop up in your mind. That feeling of utter helplessness, because you’ve tried to stop, but the evil thoughts are simply too overwhelming. I am currently also seeing a therapist because I have sensory overload - a possible DSM 5 disorder and/or am likely gifted. Sometimes I feel like my mind is on fire; the thinking and planning never stops.

Hi Chorrell: The best book I've ever read and has helped me tremendously is by Thich Nhat Hanh and is called 'Anger'. It's brilliant; shows you how to understand and embrace your negative habit energy (intrusive thoughts are nothing more than a habit) and transform it into positive energy and does a great job in helping you to understand anxiety. I hope you will try it. His other books are wonderful as well. All the best to you and be well!

REGULAR PERSON: Skipping over sidewalk lines is fun. I do it all the time and get bummed out if I miss one! Golly! I'm so OCD! PERSON WITH OCD: I had to go back home 3 times because I stepped the wrong way, which made me severely late to work. Again. Also my mind will haunt me with debilitating, invasive thoughts about how everything is now gone to hell for the next week over this. And I know it doesn't make sense, but logic doesn't make it go away. I hate everything, and my life is much harder than it has to be because of my goddamned broken brain. EDIT: Can't believe how many people liked this. I don't have OCD, but someone extremely close to me does and I have tried my utter best to listen, debunk myths, and not try to make sense of it. This disorder is cruel PRECISELY because it doesn't make sense! And people with OCD know this. It's heartbreaking.
