Saw these guys in Los Angeles that year. I'd gone to the show for PWEI and that was my introduction to TBA... They stole the show and I've been a fan ever since. Never quite understood why they weren't huge in the states.

My dad worked for a newspaper and they got copies of Beatsongs and Swagger back in 90 or 91 for review. He brought them home and I've been listening to them ever since. Bought a few of their other albums, but Beatsongs and Swagger are what I remember. As a guitarist, I'm in love with Colour Me. One of the great songs. As for their popularity, well, they're too poetic to be pop music. That's fine. They've made a good career out of it. It doesn't have to be about being a pop star. it can just be about getting to go on stage and play good music all the time.

The greatest live band I've even seen. Consistently.

I saw you guys for the first time at The Ritz in New York City on June 15th, 1990, when you opened for The Church and I was amazed. Later on, I spoke to some of you and got your autographs at Maxwell's in Hoboken. I remember Wojtek wondering why American audiences did not dance while he was working so hard. You were all so nice and down to earth, thanks!!!

Swagger will always be in my top ten albums ever made - a work of genius - and I've seen the Blue Aeroplanes half a dozen times and always enjoyed them, but its got to be said Gerrard Langley comes accross like a bit of a tw@t in this interview!

Totally agree. A new album would be way more interesting than Oasis reunion.

Wow!!! I’ve never seen this! I heard Yr Own World on independent radio in Erie, liked the jangly sound and bought the cassette(!). That’s it. He’s a sweetie, isn’t he. Awww.

«Veils of Color» video is simply wonderful! Always loved their music and this interview and acoustic performance are superb too!

Jeez, was it really 22 years ago? Saw them for the first time supporting REM on their 'Green' tour at Birmingham NEC. They were as good as REM. I later heard that they played Newport (I think) on the same tour and blew them off stage.

This features an excellent acoustic version of 'Love Come Round' (8:18). I really must get round to posting the promo video for 'Beat Songs' - the one with the Dylan lookalike photo.

That's just your opinion. Spitting Out Miracles is a masterpiece. Swagger was poppier, but not better. And Beatsongs...I'd stopped listening then...
