The most amazing show. Every year they come to SF. I first met the Angels when they came into my swim club, I had no idea who they were,, " I ask who are you guys? " and they said we fly airplanes. they kinda of giggled. Lt Caputi said look for us in the sky. Boy they do more that fly airplanes. WOW these guys were not kidding, and they were humble and there are no words to describe what they do. Lt Andy Caputi sent me there poster, and he signed his name upside. I was in love. Its been years since, and I still watch these humble Pilots every year, and thank God they are on our side. Prayers

Lt. Andy Caputi, who was the "opposing" soloist (No. 6) in this video and the "lead" soloist (No. 5) the following year, collided with Lt. Cmdr. Mike Gershon, who was then the "opposing" soloist, in New York in 07/1985. Caputi parachuted safely, while Gerson died.

Important to note that Lt. Caputi finished that year after the collision.

When this was filmed, I was stationed at the Medical Clinic NAS Pensacola, which is the home of the Blue Angels. Also, happen to be from Niagara Falls, where LCDR Gershon was killed in a crash that my brother witnessed. Later that year they had a Change Of Command Ceremony at the National Naval Aviation Museum on Base, which I was the Medical Corpsman in attendance. During the Ceremony the held a beautiful Memorial for LCDR Gershon. Also, in attendance were the Air Forces Thunderbirds, Army's Golden Knights Parachute Team as well as Canda's Snowbirds Flight Demonstration Team. Even though I wasnt at the Airshòw, being from Niagara Falls I strongly affected by the events

Fast forward to 2023 and San Francisco in no way, shape, or form deserves a visit by the Blue Angels or a fleet week. Every year they come and every year the mayor complains about it. Most ungrateful city.

"Most respected and renowned flying team ever to take the skies?". Really? Who slipped on a banana with that statement? They must have taken a lot of "flack" for that. lol. Although, there is absolute proof in this video that the person who did the voiceover knows absolutely nothing about flying. Ps: Read statement below.

Absolutely The MOST RESPECTED And Renowned jet military team in the world. Nobody flies as close. They set the standard being the fact they are the oldest military demo team in the world today. Now, go eat or suck your banana.

It's a reporter doing his piece, not an aviation expert. As for the banana peel...Over the years, it has been widely acknowledged among tactical jet aviators that the "Blues" fly closer in the diamond than any other demonstration team - especially during late season shows. The USAF safety culture doesn't permit it, so the Thunderbirds visibly fly a bit looser. Some foreign teams put on great shows with more aircraft, but you won't find one of those pilots who doesn't absolutely respect the consummate airmanship of the Blue Angels. [By way of disclaimer, I have no idea of the exact extent to which the culture of Naval Aviation today has suffered under the various agendas of the Biden administration, so my remarks may no longer apply...]
