Thanks for this one. I have had the same problem of no or little sound and think it may be due to the split edges being too thick.

Damn. Great video, just wish I had it back when I bought my kit from you. I totally screwed up the track beyond fixing... so now I have a gorgeous flute-like object that's way too nice to throw away but can't be played. Next time, I don't trust myself, I'll have to buy a pre-made flute from you.

QUESTION AT THE BOTTOM * hey boss. youre amazing. been binge watching you for weeks as im trying to learn how to make my own flute. people charge 600 up for them and the time and energy is well worth the price. but i have a thing where even if its not as perfect i like making my own stuff. paying 300 plus for all the equipment anyways ... in multiples of your old videos you use this Metal thin rectangle you heat up and use to flatten out the track area after youve finished the other stuff.. whats that piece of metal called? could i buy it? and from where? im not a toolsy guy. i didnt even know what drill bits were before your videos
@BlueBearFlutesАй бұрын
@Moniqueson1997 Hey, thanks for watching! Keep in mind at this particular time in history I do have flutes that start out at about $70 with free shipping to us residents and cheap shipping overseas. Just fyi. Also thank you so very much for watching these videos and commenting as it helps my channel a great deal. If you haven't yet, please make sure you check out my Instagram and tiktok channels both under the same name Blue Bear flutes. That piece of metal was a flat iron bar and you can buy them in the United States at Home Depot and lowe's, Ace Hardware and just about any hardware store that you run into. The one in question you're asking about is about an inch wide and a quarter of an inch thick. A thinner one will actually heat up faster so if you're not using it a lot it should help. I believe I have a video about it somewhere. 🙏🏼🙂🙏🏼

@@BlueBearFlutes thaks alot for the information ! im definitely interested in one of your flutes ! ive been on a few websites and man! youd think the flute plays by itself the price these eople are charging.. but it is alot of work to make a great flute so i understand.. but ill certainly be looking into one of your starter flutes :) still going to try the project of making my own too!

@@BlueBearFlutes 19" flute , 5.9" air channel , 11.8" sound chamber does that seem right for a flute being made in F#? ive been doing so much research but it just doesnt seem right.. if i can figure out the length and width of the air channel and sound chamber also the overall size of the flute without over complicating things , i would have all the info i need to mke this flute ! if you could help would mean so much

@@Moniqueson1997 Is the inside diameter 7/8 inch? (You know, I have a book with a lot of flute schematics in it)
@Moniqueson1997Ай бұрын
@@BlueBearFlutes im a vuslaul learner and i think the reason im having so much trouble is because all the forums dont answer the question directly.. if i cut a piece of wood at 19 inches , what length would the air channel and sound chamber have to be? i see in everyones videos the sound chamber is significantly longer than the air channel. so i just want to know thatone thing because thats really all thats stopping me from making a decent flute. truly man im homeless and broke and i cant afford to buy any books or classes right now .. all im stuck with is youtube and good hearted people who give me free tips.. but when i start working i will definetely put money into your buisness. im planning to buy your burning rd , your handmade totems and possibly even a legit flute since i know mine would sound like crap.. i do not know the inside diameter im guessing that means thickness? but if you could help with a standard sizing of the air channel and sound chamber of a 19 inch flute it could really help man.. this is driving me insane lol trust me ive wattched sooooooo man of your videos and taken so many notes butbthis is the one thing that just keeps messing me up ..

I notice it has a little bit of a high-pitched wispy sound, something I have on a flute I'm working on, is it possible to get rid of that sound entirely? More sanding? More burning?
@BlueBearFlutesАй бұрын
@@JulianKingman I believe I have a video on that. It has to do with the track depth usually. If there's anything you can do to ensure that it is not too deep and project the airflow precisely at the splitting edge, it will help immensely!

You will have to break through the end, but you can always cap or plug it too.
