The big thing for Blue Beetle is the budget was NOTHING compared to The Flash or most superhero movies. At just $120m, and we know it has spent hardly anything on marketing, it probably only needs to make around $250-300m to break even/make money. That is obviously more than Flash or Shazam 2 made, but if it can have a 35-40m opening weekend domestic, end with 100m+ domestic (2.75-3x multiplier) and another 150-200m from oversees it will be fine. Not a huge success by any means but also not this colossal failure that Flash and others have been. Will it actually make that much? Who knows. But it at least doesn't have to make 600m+ to break even or anything crazy like that. Truthfully if it can earn 250m worldwide it is probably breaking even after digital sales and rentals.

It was made for 120 mln to go straight to MAX. DC decided to put it on big screens and made promotion costs for it. So it will make them more money than just releasing it on MAX.

I'm a DC fan, I'm always rooting for them. I like Jaime as Blue Beetle and the trailers piqued interest in me at least. I will likely see this movie within the first week and I'm optimistic it'll be good. But I'm 95% certain this movie is going to be a financial disaster. The Flash and Shazam 2 flopped HARD, Blue Beetle is fighting a uphill has no chance for success.

I would love to see the financial model that correlates "Barbenheimer success" with a 2x increase in revenue for a completely unrelated film. It's going to live or die based on reviews. Shazam 2 was not very good and Black Adam sucked ass. Flash had a problematic actor which doomed the movie. At least Blue Beetle doesn't have a problematic lead actor, but the reviews will need to be good for it to have legs.

If it's domestic heavy, breakeven would be maybe about 320-350m. If it's not domestic heavy, breakeven more like 380-400m. The figures I've seen is $120 budget. Which would be more like $280-300m dom-heavy breakeven, $350mish breakeven for more mixed. Feels like the Latin America BOs will be important here: Brazil and Mexico especially.

You have to consider that the budget for Blue Beetle is a palsy 120 million. Which is pretty low for a comic book movie. It only has to make 350 million or so to break even? Maybe it's possible if it gets good word of mouth? And we don't know about how the latino population are going to turn out for this movie. That could be a wild card factor.

Good point. Black Adam made about $390 million and is considered a failure due to how high it's budget was. If Blue Beetle can make that much, it will be considered a success.

One thing you didn’t touch on is the budget is only $120 million- so yes if it lands at Fury of the Gods totals, that isn’t great but Flash or Black Adam totals wouldn’t be bad.

I think this movie does have a shot. If it ends up being good and having good word of mouth, I can see it being a hit (or at least not losing money). It doesn't have name recognition, but it also doesn't have the baggage of The Flash and Aquaman 2. It also isn't intrinsically tied to the Snyderverse. Brand recognition isn't a guarantee for success anymore, and this year has shown anything can happen. Let's see.

It's a week away? Shoot... I completely forgot. Honestly, I am more looking forward to seeing "Talk to Me" and rewatch Oppenheimer in IMAX 70mm. Blue Beetle might be a stream for me; also the humor is too watered down. I agree with the representation, as an older Latino, this movie is not aimed for me. It's aimed for a younger generation, also a different type of Latino community as well so I'll catch it... 3 week if it is still there.

@@todaysgaming2024 The trailer pretty much gave me plot, set up, villain, and arcs. I'm sure there is more in the film but because I saw a lot of that I'm not as intrigued as opposed to other films that have left more mystery in their trailer. Also, the individual tastes can vary and for me, at this time, (and especially after Oppenheimer) I am seeking out a different type of movie now. If you are dying to see it, hey good for you and I hope you enjoy.

I'm afraid that there would be no Barbie effect here. The movie follows a long line of uninspiring superhero origin movies and this looks no different judging by the trailer. Audiences are looking for something different these days and coupled by the lack of interest in the DCverse - this movie is DOA sadly.

Blue Beetle would be a phase 4 movie for DC. The era of introducing new heroes to build up the Teen Titans. Sadly DCEU never got there. What phase would DCEU technically be in, if it was set up using the MCU formula and everything that could go wrong, didn’t go wrong?
