His costume is just a colour-shifted Phantom, right down to the sort of widow's peak hood.
@Bolsonaro_em_Haia5 жыл бұрын
The resemblance is strong, but there are small differences, at least sometimes. Phantom's costume resembles an unitard, is never scaled, has diagonal stripes on its briefs, very noticeable dark boots, never includes goggles, and stopped including gloves fairly early on. Golden Age Blue Beetle is very often scaled, probably to suggest chainmail. It also uses includes gloves with fairly flared cuffs and goggles instead of the domino mask. A tunic of varying length is sometimes present as well.
@Bolsonaro_em_Haia5 жыл бұрын
Also, Phantom's eye irises are hardly ever visible inside his domino mask (and he always has one), and he is always with a pair of gun holsters on his belt.

For the golden age it's not such a bad superhero: he has got the tragic backstory, access to police files and fresh cases, an inventor character that makes gadgets for him, a love interest and eventually a sidekick. That's more than most

Love the hotel rooms changing wallpaper colours! @14:46 The wall changes colour each panel from blue, to yellow and red. The carpet changes colour too! Not noticed this before, is it something that happens in golden age comics? Also, great idea Big Dix. Always enjoy your shows. Ted Kord was an archeology student? Fascinated that BB originated in a blue suit and beetle tie. I think Kirby drew his syndicated newspaper strip, and he had a radio show. A lot of hype for a not-very-popular, sketchy-origin character. Also, kids often double up on slides, adults too.

You are a wonderful, beautiful man, and I love those intros. Special request: Can we get a video all about the early mask characters. Characters like The Clock, The Green Hornet, The Shadow, and The Spider. I like to call them business suit heroes, basically characters that aren't wearing a full blown costume, but rather just a scarf or a mask. The Clock's is the best. It's just a cloth sewn to the lining of his hat that drops down when he needs it, but I hear Blue Beetle started as a business suit hero, too.

During the '50s, guys with names shortened to Dix from Dixon were common - but not with an ascribed size. Which leads us to see that the producers of this BB episode thought their sneaky joke was one the most hilarious of all time, much like the classic "boner" routine used in a certain episode of Batman comics. Why they did several (non-hilarious) "backwards reading" balloons is a mystery, though. (And easily fixed today via a few flops and cut-and-pastes from any photo program.)
@SimonD9925 жыл бұрын
