Both Summertime Blues and Out Of Focus were on "Blue Cheer Live and Unreleased '68/74" CD on Captain Trip Records. ....Best version of Summertime Blues EVER done by the band!!!

Good to hear this after all these years. Wish there was video, and the songs too.

I saw them on Steve Allen Show, an afternoon show. Black n White TV. Amazing band. Great lead singer.... I have all 5 albums . Feather from My Tree is the best.

There was video of this because I remember watching the show on TV on Long Island. Don't remember which song they played but they were loud

+Dougdenslowe I saw it once in about 1973 on TV but appears to have disappeared since

What a jerk ! At least he had the band on Tv

So Steve Allen put them on to make fun of them? They were just seen as a freak sideshow for the squares to limit being shocked by them?
@frg96006 жыл бұрын
Steve Allen poked fun at almost all of his guests; it's all part of his act. Blue Cheer wasn't singled out, and I'm surprised they agreed to be on his show. Allen was the very definition of a square in the 1950's and 1960's, and his middle-aged audiences loved his crap.

It's Steve Allen, so unless he was subbing for Johnny Carson in 1968 it's not the Tonight Show.

Allen was such an asshole to the band

Why do you want to go on some "square's" show who totally doesn't get what you're doing, only to use you as a laughing stock!

Jas Blench Jas, I'm basically with you. The boys deserved better. But to be fair, Steve Allen was a jazz lover, a big fan of Lenny Bruce, and a truly witty guy. But the new rock of the day definitely wasn't his trip.

Actually they enjoyed being on the steve allen show. They actually played live with all their amps on and completely devastated the audience with their volume. Steve Allen was cool enough to let them play live on his show, most shows wouldn't let bands play live at the time.

Look how he treated Elvis. He made him sing to a dog.

@@matthatter2849 you have a point there. I am reminded of the Sex Pistols own "southern strategy" for touring the US in 1978. Don't go to New York or Detroit where people would love you and understand you. Go to Tulsa!🤣🤣

"Vincebus Eruptum" is absolutely, without question, the worst LP ever recorded in the history of music by three of the world's very worst musicians

Harry Taranaski writes the absolutely WORST music reviews ever written. Shitty opinion by a terrible person

If you're going to insult me, Greg, at least go to the trouble of spelling my surname correctly. I expressed my honest - and qualified - opinion, which I'm certainly entitled to do, just as you are. If you think that this makes me a "terrible person" then so be it. You were never going to get any Christmas cards from me anyway! I have been a musician and I have played in numerous bands for more than fifty years (that's 50!) and I have had the great pleasure of performing with many fine people during that time so I am able to tell the good ones from the bad ones and, despite the fact that you disagree with me, I steadfastly maintain that Blue Cheer are among the very worst I've ever heard. I bought the Vincebus Eruptum album when it was first released back in the 60's and I still have it in my collection, mainly because it makes every other album I own sound positively wonderful. It's still in pristine condition, of course, due to the fact that it has only ever been played one time. There is no way I would want to hear that awful rubbish twice!

for some reason I am not showing these videos comments nor on my youtube notifications. I did visit my old email address and read the comments and appreciate them. I also have some Nazareth cover that had a lot of comments that I never liked or had any remarks.
