I remember watching this when it aired. I was a little boy. I remember feeling so bad for SD, I almost started crying. Haha. I had no idea it was all part of the act.

I am just discovering Super Dave, as I didn't see his work on cable in the old days. Today I found out he wrote for the Smothers Brothers, and now...it's all great. Yes, I know he was on Curb. I never knew how he was picked for the show...until today. These are all great.

They make a good duo... Me and my siblings would try and lay low key as to not remind our parents it was passed our bed time so we could watch this show .. It is timeless watching them again 40 years later there just as hilarious.. Thank u for posting this VHS recording ! Aloha

We used to get high while in college in 1981 and for several years and watch Bizarre with John Byner. Super Dave would make us fall down in tears…god this guy was so deadpan and serious and Fuji and Mike Walden would just keep going and going … loved it immensely 🤘🤘🤘

NBC Letterman was a terrible interviewer. If you weren't "in" on whatever his running joke of that show was, he just yukked it up without you. The problem with this interview in particular is that he can't stop laughing at Bob's SD bit, as though it was all new to him. That's understandable for an audience member, but malpractice for a host.
