BLUE CHEER the inventers of HEAVY METAL and I met Dickie a couple of times and hell of a nice guy. Sat at the bar at Coconut Teaszers in Hollywood and bought him a drink or three and we talked for about half an hour and he was a nice as can be. I told him how he changed my musical style when I first saw them in Hawaii. Stopped holding my bass to far up on my chest. Saved up and bought to Fender Bassman amp as Marshalls could not be found in Hawaii ANYWHERE. I eventually own four very rare Mashall bass speakers. Further when they played Hawaii, they actually had a bigger audience than Led Zepelin at their first appearance in Hawaii at the same venue. A small boxing arena.

Technically correct - they had one hit, "Summertime Blues" and only two of their albums charted - "Vince" and "Outin" - and the 2nd was only on the charts for two weeks - after that, their commercial clout went completely out the window - "New! Improved!" - while a good record, I like it - died the death. Shame.Commercial success is not the same thing as artistic success.

Budgie only charted once in UK for their In For The Kill album, yet every 80s metal band knew who Budgie was. Especially in the underground. And you dare to compare influence with charts?

ggaccentc even worse is you give merit to guitar world "rankings", which is arbitrary editorial garbage. GW is/was always more trend oriented compared to guitar player mag, so of course they wont promote the raw psych blues of BC. However, this live 90s version is not representative of the real 60s BC sound. This is way too 80s metal guitar. You need to hear the original 68 vers, even better, the rare 67 demo on my page. p.s. you dont even understand the meaning of the song title...which is if you get the blues in summer, thats the point you know its real bad, hence aint no cure.
