Forbidden blueberry... I love insects, and I was thinking about either getting some of these guys or some hissing roaches (or both). Either would be great for my little apartment.

What’s the longest you reckon beetle larvae can live inside a package? I ordered from Richards Inverts but he wouldn’t answer my emails as to this question.
@missmunchie14264 жыл бұрын
If the weather is mild and the substrate is moist and nutritious they should be fine for quite a while. I can't give definite numbers because my source didn't give definite numbers, I apologize.

Hey I'm about to get them but they will be in my room and before i go to bed i turn on my ac and it stay at 65 degrees for like 10 hours that should be a problem for them? The ac can make the tank very moist? I bought a heat mat so I don't know if that works

Hi, I’m not sure if somebody knows anything that could help me, but I recently got one of these guys, she’s been in her cage for a few days now, but she’s still a dark almost black color as when I got her from the package, I got a hydrometer and it says “70” and I know they prefer less humidity. I’m not sure how to go about this as I keep her in my room with a tarantula that wouldn’t like dry air. I also haven’t seen her eat anything. Last night she wedged herself into a crevice of one of her climbing structures, I waited the entire next day (today) for her to come out but I ended up gently pulling her out using tweezers because I was scared she was stuck and couldn’t get out, she curled up into a ball, but went right back to walking around. Now she is circling her cage but will not eat any of the carrots or apples I have put in her cage. I’m worried I stressed her out and that the humidity in the air is bad for her. I have crickets I could kill and feed her, but I don’t want it to go bad while she’s not eating, Any suggestions?
@missmunchie14264 жыл бұрын
It takes a very long time for them to become blue again, but at your humidity she will remain dark. They prefer 0-20% humidity so I would recommend finding a drier area to keep your beetle in, that might be why she's not eating. But since she's new I would also give her at least a week or two to adjust to the new environment, just keep offering fresh food for her. I hope this helps and I hope she eats soon.

What’s their menu? Do you give them veggie/fruits one day and then give them proteins another day?
@missmunchie14263 жыл бұрын
Yes that's exactly what I did. I did bananas, spinach, zucchini, and freeze dried crickets.

I just ordered 2 feign beetles but I think I'm probably going to get a few more what size tank do you suggest? Do you have any roaches?
@missmunchie14264 жыл бұрын
I don't have any roaches, but anything at least 9 inches by 3 inches for two beetles I think but the more space the more active they'll be I think

How big is the enclosure? Also how often do you feed them? I’m looking into these guys, I think they’d be the best fit for me
@evansummers8354 жыл бұрын
general rule of thumb is to have the enclosure be at least five times the length of the beetle on both sides. theyre scavengers so they like to have access to a form of food at all times. best of luck!

Can you house them with other beetle species, or do they need to be with the same species? Loved the video by the way :]
@missmunchie14263 жыл бұрын
They get along fine with other desert creatures! Bugsincyberspace had a video called "How to set up a pet desert beetle tank" and he shows lots of different species that can all be housed together. Blue death feigners have lots of ironclad "cousins" so those are a good place to start looking for some variety!
