My question is : why can't the manufacturer just print the actual date of manufacture on the box in the normal format instead of some secret code that no one can easily read. Sounds me like they are trying to rip off the consumer.

It's only gonna get worse. Next will be unreadable unless you call manufacturer with the code in the box.

@@moseyingwiththemalys3357 Have 4 boxes/2.5 gal. There is no code on any of them. Looks like there may be a code on bottom but it is on the inside fold and would have to tear up the box to see it and then might not be able to read anyway.

@@davidroman1654 So far all of mine have had a code in plain sight. Maybe the state I buy mine in is slow to use DEF and new boxes are slow to get our here?

@@moseyingwiththemalys3357 Got all 4 boxes at WM within past 10 days. There is a store sticker (I think) shows 06/03/2022. No clue what that date is unless date it was delivered to warehouse. Stocking up for a 2400 mile trip from Texas to Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and back. Just crazy that there is no date anywhere on any of the boxes. Guess I will need to start looking before buying.

Agree with you . Just put the expiration date on the container instead of making it complicated.

So how is it then, that it does not go bad after being in the truck DEF tank? I have had my 2011 duramax for 4 years in Texas, parked outside always in my driveway. I have only recently had to add, as the truck is only used for camping. It seems it lasts up to 5000 miles, for this truck is years in the freezing winters and well over 100 F summers. Just curious.

All the boxes I’ve seen lately have a completely different date format.

I just bought 1 last week that was a month old, still had the same format. This was in SoCal. Where did you get your from, maybe a regional difference or something? My plant has always been from Georgia.

Just purchased some at Walmart. Can't find a date code at all. Only number on the box is 1003230745074

I just got some platinum from home depot the other day here in SoCal. All the boxes I see are the GA plant. This is my first time using anything other than Motorcraft DEF so I wanted to make sure I knew the date. Mine expire Nov 2nd 2023 so they just made this batch a couple months ago. I bought 2 jugs but I'll probably have to give the other one away since I rarely drive my truck. I hope I don't throw any codes but I still have a warranty so I guess it doesn't matter.

Honest actually questions if the 22 is the year minus one could you use that as the expiration date so it's good till Dec 7 2022. Also what if a leap year.

I am seeing a different number format on the Peak BlueDEF Platinum so I have not figured out how to read the date on Blue DEF Platinum.

I don't buy the platinum stuff. So I have not seen the date code yet. Sorry can't help on that one.

Absolutely different now, why they changed how to interpret the date codes? Because they don't want the consumer to know something, the retailer might be selling old or outdated def to the consumer. I WILL NEVER USE THEIR BRAND PRODUCT, AS LONG AS THEY PLAY THIS GAME.

Could be part of the country that you're in that they have different date codes on it... I just had to buy two boxes out west and they still have that exact date code system on the two boxes I just bought.

I know how to figure that out brother but I'll tell you what it's easier to Google it... I do my stuff in Fahrenheit not Celsius. But damn bro 60° C is like 140°F. Talk about inferno.
