The mellophone soloist was actually one of my visual techs at my highschool last year...
@jasmineward26337 жыл бұрын
Togo is a mellophone like a euphonium
@mB-nc2pz7 жыл бұрын
In short no but some things yes. Jasmine Ward In some parts yes but they are different instruments entirely. Mellophone is a marching french horn, while marching Euphonium is a concert Baritone/Euphonium. Euphonium: Reads in Bass clef key of Bb and plays in the key of C and is pitched the same octave of tenor trombone Mellophone: Reads in Treble Clef key of F and plays in the key of f You can play the same notes on the euphonium but you have to transpose and it wouldn't be the same fingerings.

I'm so happy that drum melody in the beginning got put in metamorph
@gavin_bigred3 жыл бұрын
Its a common drum beat used in military bands. The use of it in metamorph was a callback to them playing this same song in the 70s and that was the first world champion ship they won

Good job. I agree, though, that It sounded better on the big bore G bugles and in the key of concert F# minor. It is fair to note, though, that in 1976, they played it all season long in their shows, and here, it is just something they play occasionally. Here it is on smaller bore B-flat instruments and in a lower key, concert E-flat. They should play this in the key of concert F or, better yet, concert G. Concert G would give the lead trumpet a nice tonic double high A to end on. Also, they really need to redesign their horns. For the outdoor big stadium stuff that drum corps does, they should be playing on 0.468" bore trumpets or larger with equivalently larger bores in the rest of the brass line. Larger horn bells would help diffuse the harsh edge of the trumpets, too, a sound that many describe as "thin" on the current equipment they play on in the massive arena venues in which they perform. A trumpet bell up to 5 inches would be great. They would probably need to redesign their mouthpieces to get an appropriate balance of resistance to match the larger bore horns, but larger bore instruments would make such a huge difference in the sound of today's drum and bugle corps.
@AzrealMaximus Жыл бұрын
DCI is just BOA repackaged unfortunately. The stadium rattling sound that blew you away in the stands is gone. You make great points Sir, but I doubt the powers to be will "compromise" for a rework to tubing, valve, bore and bell size to recapture that authentic sound of Drum & Bugle Corps. Tis a shame.
@sceu25 Жыл бұрын
The trumpets in these videos are King System Blue K12’s that have .464 bores and 5 inch bells, seems pretty big to me when you compare it to standard trumpets like the Bach Strad with a .459 bore and a 4 7/8 inch bell.

Mello Solo in this was better than the 76 version in my opinion but the overall sound and energy was better in the 76 one. This one sounds so watered down.
