I chose the 2220.80 and didn't regret it. 11 years later and I'm still wearing the watch almost regularly. Wearing it right now in fact as I'm typing this 👌🏻

I prefer the case and bracelet of the 2220.80 over the SMP ceramic. In particular the bracelet, though using pins rather than screws, is significantly more comfortable to me. 2220.80 is the pinnacle of the original Seamaster design.

Beautiful ❤️....I got my 2531.80 on the stock bracelet.....and my SMPC lives on blue rubber.....these are my most complimented watches..... everyone recognizes these classics.

The 2220.80 was my first expensive watch and regardless of the other watches which found their way into my small collection it remains my most worn timepiece, followed by my much more substantial Planet Ocean Chronograph from 2009. For me it is the perfect mix of design and comfort of the old Bond watch and dial depth and modern movement technology of the modern watches. I love the subtle wave pattern, the applied indices and the Omega logo on the dial and appreciate how seamlessly the clasp blends into the bracelet. I personally also find the white date window less distracting than the black one on the SMPc. It just gives the dial some kind of symmetry.

A perfect mix is a good way to describe the 2220.80. The comfort of the older watches with a more modern dial and movement. My black dial Seamaster of the same period is the one I wear the most as well.

@@omegawatchfan Yes, should get here by Saturday (I live in Nicaragua and watch collecting is a bit harder here :). Also splurged on some straps (rubber, sailcloth and natos) and the Forstner 1450 President bracelet. Feeling like a little kid the day before christmas :)

Congrats! I'm sure you will enjoy it and it does go very very nicely with both natos and mesh. I have not tried a rubber strap on it but based on photos I have seen, it looks great as well. The watch is so well designed that it looks good with any strap option.

My preference is the 2220.80 because it has the wave dial. I have the 2220.80 and changed the clasp to the micro adjustment clasp. A worthwhile upgrade in my opinion. I may think about replacing the bezel soon as it has a few scratches. I wonder if the SMP C bezel insert is interchangeable?

The bezels can be tricky. For example, the bezel of the 2531.80 is not interchangeable with the 2220.80. The bezel will fit, but it will not turn smoothly due to a very minor difference between them. I am not sure about the smpc bezel though, but my hunch is it won't fit because the bezel is noticeably thicker due to the increased thickness of the ceramic insert. You may end up with a mismatch in bezel and crystal height as well.

@@omegawatchfan Dear sir, I was doubting about buying an Omega smp 2265.80 with the blue bezel and insert of the Omega smp 2531.80. But is there a chance that the blue bezel and insert will turn less well? Compared to rotating of the original bezel?

The blue of the SMPc is a beautiful subdued color, but I think black Seamasters (whether SMPc or the predecessor) are a more versatile choice so if I had to pick only one, I'd go with the black SMPc.

I love the pre-ceramic seamasters, but they definitely look a bit "vintage" today. The ceramic bezel is more modern looking and more similar to the current models.

Nearly every watch reviewer on KZbin doesn’t sink the watches they compare. It blows my mind how they think they have attention to detail but miss this fact. Ironically the only reviewers that do this are German or Swiss reviewers 😂😂

Synching the watches is something I would do if specifically talking about the beat rate or another aspect that pertains to comparing the movement of the seconds hand. Otherwise, it does not bother me to see the watches out of synch.
