Thanks Dan, it was helpful as I am about to look for a 9015 machine and I will query the type of hold down setup used on whichever one I purchase. Alan

Thanks Dan, That did help ease my mind a bit. I have read some horror stories online about these Chinese machines. I know its not going to be perfect but for the price it looks well put together. As far as that vacuum pump goes you might be able to extend that exhaust outlet with some piping or hose to exhaust those Diesel fumes. Or possibly put it outside if thats an exterior wall and build a small enclosure for it. The vacuum pump they are trying to sell me looks different and doesnt look like it requires water However I, am in the states on single phase power so I know they mentioned I needed 2 smaller pumps opposed to their standard setup to work on single phase. Either way I have a shed right where mine would go so I will plan on just popping a hole through and putting it in the shed. Originally I was planning on that for noise reasons but now I see there could be other benefits. One question why 18mm spoil board ? wouldn't a 6mm or 12mm transfer more vacuum to the part? Or does it not stay flat enough? It has always amazed me that these machines can draw enough vacuum through a sheet of 18mm mdf and still clamp parts down.

Yeah I think they are pretty good for the price, considering the next price break for a European made machine would be around 4-5 times the price! I did think about trying to duct the outlet to outside, it is a run of at least 10m either direction though through some other rooms so not that straight forwards. This is the type of pump I was considering upgrading to: www.alibaba.com/product-detail/200m3-h-Value-Vacuum-Pump-Oil_62314075641.html?spm=a2700.galleryofferlist.0.0.7bf329afHQEix9 I'm not sure what your options are for single phase, perhaps there are less options, my pump is around 7kW three phase so quite hefty! I've used 6mm spoil boards before now but don't see any noticeable difference in the hold down from thicker ones. If you have an 18mm one then you can skim it off several times before it needs replacing, thinner board will also tend to peel up around the edges once they have been cut/faced a few times. The vacuum is pretty impressive when it's properly set up, you can't move a sheet of ply even getting your whole body weight behind it and pushing!

@@DanLeeBoatbuilding That link you sent looks similar to what they sent me. For my single phase set up I need two smaller units opposed to one big one. You might want to reach out to BE they quoted me 850 for the double single stage vacuum set up. Not sure what they offer for 3 phase. Maybe its time to also upgrade to that ATC machine you wanted while your at it ;)

Just checking back with you to say thanks again. I just got word from BE today that my machine is completed. I ended up with the the same machine but upgraded to 4.5kw spindle, HD linear bearings, pop up pins, cooling mister, and all servo motors. Crossing my fingers it arrives and works as well as yours. Did they supply you with the vacuum table gasket? I will need to get some. Thanks again.

HI Mate, thanks for video. I cant get my head around the vacuum table - from what i can work out if you are using the vacuum table you cant cut right through? so if you want to cut something right out of a sheet how do you hold it to the table?
@DanLeeBoatbuilding
@DanLeeBoatbuilding 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can cut right through parts with the vacuum table, in fact one of the main benefits is that you can cut out a complete part whilst it is still held in place. The vacuum pulls right through the MDF sheet (spoil board) and you cut into this, usually by around 0.5mm when cutting out your parts. When it becomes worn you just run a program to mill off the spoil board to flat again. Have a look at this video where I am through cutting some parts on the vacuum: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anvKYXaPish8r5o

Good video mate! You said you got yours through a UK importer? Could you provide a link to them? I guess I'd save some cash buying direct, but having a middle-man in the UK might be worth it should it come to maintenance and spare parts.
