Funny reading comments from guys who know nothing about the gear your using to catch these fish. Twinpower and Ocea Jigger were made for these types of fights. In fact the rest of the world uses spinning gear for big fish. I fished in japan for 3 years using spinning gear. Caught everything from Bluefin to dogtooth tuna. To GT. Awesome video.

@@stevensilva1350have you gave the XD a go? My dad has that and it’s one of the most work horse reel they could have created! Plenty of surf trips, inshore plugging every other day for the past 2 years and it still feels brand new! Me on the other hand I like finesse nd lightweight I have a vanquish it’s the most smoothest and light inshore plugging 4k you’ll ever touch

We were offshore 5 miles out from the island from 4-7am. No BFT school so Deciding to head to the island to do some Bonita action, but hit the BFT.

It’s probably your knot. I’m using a uni knot, wrap the hook eye 2 times, 5 times on the uni. Alberto knot 5 five time going up and five going back, finish the knot with 4 clinch knot around the braid. Knot holds very strong, better than the San Diego knot. I’ve landed 60 lb tuna with 20lb leader with this knot.

Mako ProSkiff 17. Mercury 75hp. Gets about 5-6mpg @ cruising speed 17-22mph. A trip to Catalina and back ~60miles takes 12 gallons. You have to get there early and return back to Long Beach before the winds pick up.

Very Smooth drag. In the video, you’ll see me test the drag, pull some line out while the rod is under tension. Line come out effortlessly if fish pulls just the slightest drag.
