Ready to accompany a Blues with the first four frets and open strings?!? This MalaPill also comes from my experience with the great Massimo Moriconi. Having "limits" in the notes to use, you will notice how your musical "instinct" will get to work to obtain excellent solutions, using only the first 4 frets, plus the open strings. It is an exercise that has helped me a lot in getting to know the instrument and is still a stimulus for studying today. Happy viewing!

I completely understand! I experienced a very similar situation when I had my first lesson with legendary Berklee Professor & Weather Report drummer Skip Hadden. I was confident thinking I can play Teen Town & Havona note for note. When he said; “Okay let’s start with a simple warmup; Let’s play a Jazz/Blues working through the cycle starting in F, and change key’s every other pass. Okay ready? And ah 1-2-3-go!! That was the light WARMUP! I realized right then, that I was in deep water and I was about to sink fast!!

Interesting lesson. I did something similar but to learn to walk Autumn leaves but just on one string. Once you have mastered it on the E string move to the A string and you will have to relearn it.
