I want to know who these grown ass people with jobs are who care so much about a non relative child's hair. Meanwhile, your babies are dressed like a grown person with a retirement fund (yet no job) and you can't name your child's teacher or recognize them in the grocery store. So these bullies can have a damn seat. I stayed looking a damn mess as a child because I played sports and was active so I really can't say anything even if I wanted to... And I still have my edges. team no combs lol

i agree with you 100% Justin and I have something else to add. I think that a lot of the outrage over this baby's hair has a lot to do with the fact that Beyonce has been able to maintain a very polished image in the public eye. People hate that shit! Therefore, any opportunity to prove that Beyonce is not as "perfect" as she portrays herself to be turns into an opportunity for people to try to expose her as a fucking human. Its really disgusting. So Blu's not so neat hair (which I think is beautiful) is being used as a vehicle to depict Beyonce as not nearly as neat as she is perceived.

What I hear is that in the Black community apparently we are not allowed to wear our hair naturally wild unless we have "good hair." That's some BS. I'll rock my "nappy," shrunken fro when I feel like it. #"bad"hairdontcare. Tell 'em!

I so agree with you. Im just disgusted with this topic. People really do not have a life. When did it become ok to talk about this child's hair? Or a child period. Im pretty sure beyonce has the best ppl who is taken care of blu's hair if she isnt herself. The only ppl who have an issue with herhair is black ppl and half of them dont know what natural hair looks like so thats why all the negative comments come up about how it looks, its beautiful and I hope she never perms her hair.

Love that you did a video on this! For most children, it's actually better to let their hair do whatever it naturally does before you mess w/ it too much. Too many little braids, combs and tight pigtails can break their hair. The baby looks happy and healthy. Now, if she was walking around looking emaciated and dirty, then it's another topic. Also, do people forget that Beyonce's mother is a hairdresser? Y'all really think she's going to let her grand-baby grow up w/I healthy hair?? Girl, bye!

I agree with you Justin, what is she supposed to have in her hair? A fake blond weave at age 2 or 3? There is nothing wrong with that baby's hair. That's the problem now, people so use to fake isht and think it's a problem to be real. There is nothing wrong with being your natural self. If its not your cup of tea then so be it. I'm sick of hearing about that baby's hair.

I'm sick and tired of our black people picking on this 2 year old child. I have a daughter and I style my baby's hair before mine, but unless the child is abused or neglected, why worry about how this child's hair looks?! At the end of the day, she'll have more edges than some of these kids whose parents putting weaves, tight ass braids and relaxers in their young kids' hair.

I want to give you a big hug right now because I truly understand your frustration! Gone are the days when we only talk about our people w/ our people and that bothers me. I want people to stop acting like every black/mixed or hispanic child has not had a similar "bad" hair day! No one even considered that she may be on her way to get her hair done! My daughter will be 2 next month and has probably 2 to 3 times the amount and length of Blue's hair (no she is not mixed) and keeping up with it is a DAMN JOB!!!!!!!!!!!! So on the days that working, being a wife, and a mother is just too much, her beautiful, full, healthy, natural mane gets a headband slapped on it and is allowed to be free!!!! I have had strangers and people I know disagree with the natural route we have chosen w/ her (hair, food, and life in general) but I could give two fucks as my baby can count to 30 and recite her alphabet like it's nothing at just 23 months. And she is happy and loved!! Aside from the hair issue I get everything you are saying. Sometimes people just need to close their mouths and open a book!!!! ***sorry for the long comment***

Hey JustinJ!!!! On the topic of blue jvy's hair, I think a lot of people were upset over the lack of grooming not the texture of her hair. Personally I don't care what the child's head looks like because she's not mine to walk around with but Beyonce is one of the top black celebrities in the game and she's known to always look pulled together even when she's dressing down so I think a lot of people look at her and then blue and wonder why she has her daughter walking around with hair she would never walk around with. But I will say all the people screaming neglect need to chill. Obviously the child is happy thriving and looks healthy so let's just retire this issue!

Who cares about Blue Ivy's hair. Why can't we focus on the poverty, starvation, illiteracy, people not voting, financial ignorance, and other life issues not even social issues that plaque out race. Not black but the human race. Take care brother and love you and peace. I enjoyed your video. As always 😉😉😉😉😉

Don't know if I'd sign a Petition about the looks of someone else's kid, but long be4 hair weaves, braids & extensions, People-of-Color were grooming their children's hair --- of ALL TEXTURES --- even IF THEY WERE TENDER-HEADED --- and typically without using chemicals, & straightening combs, even. What has happened to our world? When did it become socially acceptable for babies to NOT LOOK WELL GROOMED? I think people just want Jay-Z & Beyonce's child to look well groomed, especially since you rarely see either one of THEM NOT LOOKING THEIR BEST. Blue Ivy is cute; she's a baby, so no one is "holding her to adult standards of beauty;" people just want to see her looking well kept, and cared for --- just like daddy and mommy usually look "well kept, and cared for."

People have unkempt and natural mixed up. Blu's hair is unkempt in almost all her photos. My daughtee is 6 and natural, always has been, and even when I let her wear her fros and mohawks her hair never looked dirty, matted, dry. If a regular plain jane was walking down the street dressed to gods everyone would say her child was being mistreated. I think people make too many excuses for Beyonce. Combing a child's hair does not mean that her edges will missing.

We have no idea why she is allowing her hair to be so called "un-kept",there are several reasons why a mother would choose not to start the process of combining and pulling of a child's hair. I'm just not understanding the idea that just because Beyonce has money she must be letting her child's hair grow in whereas a mother with no money is ratchet. princessjenja AMEN!!! That's the same thing I said. I understand that some people take things too far, but look at how many adult women choose to go natural and BLACK people are quick to tell us that we need a perm, but yet they wont say the same about these celebs?! #ChilePlease Even the mothers that don't get all glammed up and choose to keep their child's hair natural get ridiculed too. Money doesn't have anything to do with it. Water is the best moisturizer. Slap some on your head, slick it down, and you're good to go. It aint hard!

I am so glad you said that. If she doesn't comb and oil that child's hair it will eventually break off. Your hair groomed is considered a form of hygiene. If Blue was going to a regular school, they would probably say something about the child. Beyonce doesn't have to put a perm in her hair. She just has to make sure it's combed regularly and oiled. She also has to make sure to wash it cause if she never does anything to it, it will get matted all up. Once again thank you for saying that.

So why would we get it for keeping our hair in its natural state like people in Africa, which is the majority part of our culture. If I wanna wear my fro and I'm not working in a kitchen where it has to be covered, like most people do in a kitchen, then I should be able to. This is sad people don't get this even today

Blu's hair is natural and beautiful. It's not nappy (i.e., kinky) but its curly (PSA there's a difference). Either way she is a CHILD! Bey and Jay have no need to press that child's hair or relax it and damage it. Bey probably does comb it and let it naturally curl right back up, as she should. That's the same thing I do with my daughter. Some black women so stuck on conforming to this world, it's sad. And Jesus' hair WAS the texture of wool....

I'm reading these comments and completely baffled. My hair is natural and the people saying she should comb her hair....I don't get it. I don't comb my hair. I finger comb my hair to style it daily. It depends on the texture on how your curls will look. All natural hair is not the same. It may appear matted to you, because her ringlets aren't as visible. I think Justin J hit the nail on the head. I believe more people should get educated on natural hair and the upkeep before becoming sme (subject matter experts) on the topic online.

I definitely feel what you're saying because I could care less about her hair and I have never commented on the issue. However, as a parent u just really hate to see someone walk around fly as hell but the child looking a hot ass mess. Beyonce wouldn't be caught dead with her hair like that so why make ur child walk around like that? I see this everyday...mother walking around with shoes on their feet that cost the price of rent but the child is filthy, hair not combed, with a lollipop attached to the shirt. I just find it to be quite selfish.

I think that is the difference. Most people have a problem with people spending their last on themselves WHILE neglecting their children. Blue Ivy is not neglected in any way. She appears to be healthy, well-fed, has more than adequate shelter and every time I see her she is in the presence of one of her parents and looks well cared for and loved. A mother living in the ghetto and spending her last dime on herself while her child suffers is not the same as what people are complaining about for Blue. They are talking about something that does not matter...hair. Beyonce is an entertainer. It is her JOB to look the way that she does. It is just an image that she portrays out in public. I would be willing to bet that during her down time she is not dressed to the 9s. Blue's only job should be playing, eating, pooping and taking nap, not trying to look as "glamorous" as mommy and daddy.

Actually, one point in the video I need to comment on, African hair care was very important in Africa, even before we were brought over to America. There was African hair braiding, and even African combs which resembles the modern day afro picks. Also, African women would braid their hair in such a way around their heads to resemble crowns. Even in a lot of African paintings and statues you see the kinky locs and braids that they wore. That's one of the methods those who studied in Kemet were able to identify statues as being African. There is a lot of evidence in Africa and even in ancient Africa of hair care.. So, over in Africa, our ancestors cared very much about their appearance, and especially their hair, because to them their hair was not only their crowns, but their ancestral trademarks.

People really need to stop going in in Blue Ivy's hair I mean I'm sure they've tried to come her hair but she probably don't want them to comb it! A lot of two year olds have temper tantrum when they are about to get their hair combed! We all know Jay Z and Beyoncé love their daughter! I don't get why people have so much to say just worry about your children's hair!

Thank you! People kill me acting like they know what's going on in the Carter home when they don't. There are plenty of pictures where they're out and her little fro had been comb & moisturized and is accessorized w/ cute little headbands. She had a bun a few months back & on Father's day. She had loose twists when they were in NOLA last month. So I don't get the her hair is NEVER combed thing. Do they have their bad days? Yep we all. We're all guilty of thinking "I;ma just run to the store real quick" and go out looking like who did it and what for. Nobody is defending them "not combing her hair" as ya'll say but we're simply saying who gives a flying fuck? That's their child. They're allowed to raise her how they see fit. If you don't wanna raise your child like that then don't. But for grown ass adults to be sitting on the internet debating this when there is soo much other important things going on, it's sad as fuck.

I have seen kids looking a mess, their clothes are a mess and their hair is not combed but the mothers take great pride in their own appearance and I do not like that. If the parents are looking presentable, so should the children. I'd rather see a woman looking bummy with her kid looking like a superstar. No, people should not be rude about Blue Ivy and her hair because it's actually her parents fault, if they don't want to keep her well groomed that's their business but people are going to speculate and say different things that's the way it is and how it'll always be. The hardest part of the business is minding your own.

Ok, Im going natural and I have my reasons why, but IDGAF who doesn't like it. The thing is that no matter how much money you have, its not hard to put your hair or your child's hair in a ponytail and when its natural, in a puff. Even though you say you don't go in, some these folks who are so called pissed because they're stans are always going in on the average person when their kids look a hot mess, while they're walking around looking good, so just because its Beyoncé and Jay-Z doesn't mean that they should be able to get away with Blue Ivy looking like that. Nobody said she had to Brazilian hair goin down her back or a relaxer, but like I said, it aint hard to put it in a ponytail, puff, or twist out. I usually don't comment because I don't care, but if we're gonna care about how everyone else's children look, then we should care about Blue Ivy too. I don't go in on kids because they're innocent, but these parents should know better and do better. Some of yall are already relaxing your daughter's hair and they're not even teens yet, but you wanna get mad because you like Bey & Jay. They don't have to brush or comb her hair everyday, but they can at least finger detangle it. I went a few weeks without doing anything to my hair and I had to cut some of it because of the knots and tangles. They just need to manage and maintain it so they wont have to end up cutting it. Relaxed, natural, weave, braids etc...hair has to be taken care of NO MATTER WHAT. If it didn't matter, nobody would get hair cuts or do anything to their hair, so it matters.

I have a 2 year old baby girl as well who has thick full long hair and I let her wear it in an Afro at times as well. However me being a blacksquid k woman and also having a little Girl I know that black women are so often judged by our hair and how we choose to wear it. Just like they talked about gabby douglas like a dog for her hair even after all her amazing accomplishments. The thing that I think stands out to me about the blue ivy situation is not that her hair is natural ,it's that it never looks combed. When I put my baby's hair in an Afro I comb and detangle it so that it looks neat. When u see blue she never looks that way so I partially disagree but I understand your point. What I don't like is the way adults Talk about her because she's still a child and it's very hurtful to say and hear as a parent idk how Beyonce deals.

My opinion is similar to yours. Most times her hair is detangled and moisturized, sometimes its matted and dry. I do notice because I'm into hair. I'm natural as well. But on the other hand, I never comment on my observation because I have 2 sons of my own. Everyone may not agree with how I groom my children. My son lost all his hair in the back and sides when he was smaller. The top of his hair is full and the sides are low growing in. I want his hair to naturally grow in before I cut it. His grandmother thinks it's the worst thing in the world. But guess what, he's just her grandson and I'm his mom. Nobody should be judged for the way they choose to raise their children. If no physical harm it's coming to the child its nobody's business.

Personally I don't care about any baby I don't have to take care of but I understand both sides of this issue especially given the legal responsibilities of parents and how things are leaned in favor of J&B and against normal parents. As you said if they want their child to look ridiculous by not combing her hair like the days of Africa when they had no inclination of what a comb looked like, that's on them. HOWEVER, if anyone else were to do the same, a regular person with regular money or struggling to get by, child services would be attached their behind tighter than underwear. So therein lies the hypocrisy. If you had a child and didn't comb it's hair, you may lose your child for neglect but their walking around neglecting to do the child's hair and it's being overlooked. So I understand where people are coming from in that regard. Then to further consider their p.o.v. they see this woman wearing multi-thousand dollar wigs and getting her hair done constantly and her daughter isn't kept so of course their going to say something about that. Now what you said about materialism I totally loved, but it's going to be hard for anyone to agree with it when the subjects of your commentary are 2 of the most materialistic people in the industry past and present. Who spend loads of money and go out and buy expensive trinkets for their child that could easily pay for a house for someone so clearly there is not a true attempt at being natural by these people. The world is seeing that and that's why they keep talking. lol So, I agree with both sides, the kid's hair needs to be combed, if I had a kid it'd be properly groomed and I'm sure the parents out there see it that way and their commenting accordingly. However since it's not my child so I don't care if she looks like that because it doesn't reflect poorly on me.

I think the real issue with her hair is that Beyoncé has ruined her life. Firstly it's clear Beyoncé doesn't know how to do hair which frankly is irresponsible for her to make no effort to learn once she made an effort to be a mom. If Tina was there, she'd do the child's hair being a stylist and all. Now to the point of her ruining her life.....When her mother and father were part of her career she had her issues in the early ears with wardrobe and such but nothing like what it became over the years and the same goes for her hair and wardrobe. Her mother's not behind her wearing see through clothing and thongs for the world to see her bare body. The more effort she makes to accommodate Jay Z's preference for sluts, the more she's pushed her parents out of her life. Meanwhile ruining herself, her child, her life and her image.

It's not about being materialistic. It's about her child looking well taken care of. You said you think good hygiene is important. Well combed hair is a part of that. And if you don't care about Blue's hair, why make a vlog about it? I'm not saying people should ridicule a child bc of the appearance of his/her hair; however, there's nothing wrong w making sure one's child is presentable. I do agree with you about this not really being news though. It's not that deep.
