Derek, I started learning guitar about a year ago. This version of Blue Jean Blues is the benchmark to which I aspire. I don't anticipate ever sounding as good as you but if I could play that song at any level, I would enjoy it. My wife always wonders why I am watching this same video. It is amazing.

This video has tought me more tasteful blues lick than any two-hour blues-wannabe tuition in the world! I bought a Fender Strat because of this video :-) Thanks for all the inspiration and sharing your vision of playing with us!

This guy was posting vids 10 years ago, way before all the current guitar 'content providers' were doing it. Don't see how he doesn't have a ton of subscribers. This is as good as any guitar channel out there.

Ohhh, my. No amount of training or speed or music theory can create this. The soul and feeling that this guy coaxes out of this instrument...is sooo...I mean, its just...its just "IT". So so good. I'm in awe.

Fantastic ! One of the few people of You-Tube who DON'T distort the hell out of a Strat's beautiful tone and play it somewhat clean with just a bit of dirt thrown in. Great licks!! Don't aspire to be a speed demon....this is the stuff that MOVES people!

This is so wonderful and inspiring! I use so many of these phrases, and the best proof to it's quality is having people asking me "wow, man, where did you get THAT lick from?".... check out 1:05 lick for a lifetime. And Derek is full of those! Epiphany!

Suberb !!! What a feeling man !!!! One of the best blues guitarists ever. The feeling is something between Peter Green, snowie White, SRV, Mayall/Clapton .. lots of credit man !! This is NOT fake It is just loss of syncrinization between sound and video.. too bad you cant recognize the licks after 30 years, sorry

Obviously, the tube amplifier(overdrive) gives that wonderful sound. Anyone could have guessed it. It makes the guitar' sound breaks up less likely. There is also a litte reverb/echo. But as I see, the pickups have a really considerable part in his playing. So my question is: What kinds of pickups, that stratocaster have. Or if it's stock, then could you tell me, what kind of guitar is that? :D I'm really curious!

He, some people says they learned ur version. How to do that ? How can i learn ur version ? Do u have any tabs ? Or do you have any tabs for this song at all.The one i found on youtube does not seem to help me much. Would you be interested to come to Bali in vacation, stay as a guest in a super villa ? All u have to do is to teach me this song when you are here in Bali? What do you say ?
