I've been there back in 1998. There was no glass top on those cars back then, just a metal grid (IIRC). Nice to see it again. Thanks for uploading.

I rode this on the final day of our Aussie tour in October of 2002. GREAT train ride that scared the hell out of me! But I cannot remember how we got back up to the top, Stairs? LOVED the scenic Blue Mountains!

I can do better than that! My first visit would have been around 1946. My mother was terrified of heights but took my sister and I on it so we could have the experience. My most recent visit was a couple of years ago.

Wow talk about upgrades. Back in my childhood the sides of it were completely open and they just ran a single chain along it, plus the roof was the kind of mesh you'd get in a mine car. They nerfed the hell out this version 😔

I agree. The first time I took it with my 3 year old girl, I wasnt expecting it to be THAT steep. She was thrown forward in her seat and I was having a hard time holding her back, while struggling to stay back myself. They should at least provide an optional seatbelt, imo.

It’s not the steepest railway in the world, that goes to Switzerland which descends at 48 degrees
@PaulDonovan3 жыл бұрын
The Blue mountain is 52 degrees !! extract from Google: Switzerland may be home to the world’s finest chocolate, but Scenic World in the Blue Mountains still takes the podium as having the world’s steepest passenger railway despite recent efforts to knock Australia off the perch. The Scenic Railway has a long and colourful history dating back to the 1800s coal mining era, but at 52 degrees it still stands as the steepest passenger railway in the world with a whopping 128 per cent incline. Operators across the globe have come within reach of the coveted 52 degree milestone, including a new railway at the Swiss alpine resort of Stoos which ascends at an angle of almost 48 degrees. Covering a distance of 1,738 metres above Lake Lucerne, the Stoos railway is sure to be a crowd pleaser for ski (and apres ski) enthusiasts from near and far. However, at 52 thrilling degrees, the Scenic Railway still takes out the top gong for adventure seekers. While the new Stoos railway may not be the world’s steepest, it is another incredible display of Swiss engineering by one of the world’s leading manufacturers, Garaventa, which designed the new Swiss train along with all Scenic World rides.
