Glad that you liked the Mountains. My parents took the 3 of us there after a difficult winter when we'd had mumps, measles and chicken pox one after the other. That's now over 70 years ago, and after the first holiday, we went back every winter for a break. They still make a great short break, but so much has changed! Electric trains rather than steam-drawn (the Central West Express drawn by a Class 38 loco on the long climb up was a particular favourite sight) have made it a place from where people can easily commute to the western suburbs of Sydney. Katoomba remains a major centre, but the towns in the lower mountains are now much busier with the extra people living there. Now it's mid-winter, it's tempting to take a short break upo there again.
