The old track to the Orphan Rock at Katoomba is easy to find and follow. It continues on to the summit of the rock, but I am not saying you should follow it there, especially knowing that the track was closed many years ago for safety reasons.

Great upload. I remember spotting secrions of abandoned steps and such in that area. Been meaning to look in to the history behind them for near enough to thirty years. Never did get around to it so it's nice to have stumbled upon this video by chance. Thanks for sharing it. Appropriate your commentary too.

John Paix Hi again John. Thanks so much for this video, without it we wouldn't of been able to find our way to Orphan Rock. We did this walk yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Does it take a long time to get to orphan Rock once you get to Juliet balcony..? But it is very dangerous isn't it .? I've been right down the bottom of Jamison Valley when I was 8 years old from Witches gleep to the 3 Sisters and up the thousand steps that is a very big day a course I went with my dad and brothers and sisters .. my son is a bit of a walker loves walking everywhere I don't know if I like him to go up to orphan Rock . But we'll see it is crumbling away I don't know if it would be any time soon but won't be long before it falls in the middle I think you might have a different idea on that. Thank you for taking us up there I love your walks remind me when I used to go there every year would have a holiday at the Blue Mountains love it .😊💖💜💙

Hi Carolyn. From the Juliet's Balcony turn off it takes only a few minutes to get to the base of the Rock. Unless things have changed, I wouldn't recommend climbing it. The ladders are missing rungs and so far as I know there has been no track maintenance for 60 years or more. Just enjoy being at the rock!
