Hey y'all in this video we will show how to make a awesome All-grain spirit we like to call Blue Oat Whiskey it has a awesome mouth feel and smoothness with great flavor from all 4 grains used in this mash it has Ohio blue corn,rolled oats, malted rye,dark wheat malt all combined to make a fantastic whiskey so dive in with us as we mash in we also spice things up a bit with mangrove jacks M02 yeast and On purpose inoculate our mash with lactobacillus to get that extra sour/fruity profile #oatwhiskey #ohiobluecorn #maltedrye #whiskey #Moonshine
Mash bill recipe
30# Ohio blue corn
6# rolled oats
5#malted rye
5#dark wheat malt
20 gallons of water
mangrove jacks M02 yeast
Omega lacto
high temp alpha amylase
Gluco amylase
you can also add sugar for a higher gravity I only used 2lbs grain per gallon which got my gravity to 1.058
Check out Still'N The Clear's on the grain fermenter kit it allows you to ferment on the grain without the messy straining stillntheclear.com/product/diy-fermenter-kit/aff/1/

I like that M02 also. Just put down an all molasses rum with it and have used it with all grain and brandies. Great high ester yeast

Love the content. Keeping it fresh. I just got 30 pounds of Merica blend from Philbilly. Waiting on the amylase. Figs are about the size of my pinky.

Hell yeah I heard him on the podcast talking about that corn it should be really good I have used those corns separately and they were fantastic let me know how it turns out I'm cross pollinating corn myself this year but I'm crossing a couple sweet corn varieties my figs are about the same size I'm watching pears and peaches to my honey holes 😂

@@TheShineshack I saw your garden post. I will be running a mash with just his corn in my first run so I will let you know. I don't see how it could be bad.

Running lacto in a whisky mash is pretty cool and up my alley. I’ve played a lot with Jamaican rum and have a lacto heavy dunder that does that vomit into pineapple thing real good. I need to try my rum dunder in a good whisky. If you watch “This blog is neat”, here on KZbin. She compares a couple rum dunders several episodes ago and mine is the one she calls a “Muk”.

Yep it sure is 😆 So far I have used it on a apple brandy and lived it and now on a All-grain and its fermenting beautifully and hard I really like it compared to ec-118 and dady yeast it definitely adds more esters

The different colors are just so if you get multiple you can tell you mashes apart on which ever app you choose to use they are all the same the one I got just came with the hydrometer and instructions if your wifi signal is weak they sell signal boosters for them also if needed but here is the link for the one I got I hope this helps brother if you have any other questions feel free to ask also I decided to go with the brewspy app with mine www.etsy.com/listing/1047707321/ispindel-wifi-tilt-hydrometer

Did you need up using the air lock or just a lid? If you use just a lid, do you open it up everyday or ? Thanks
@TheShineshack
@TheShineshack 5 ай бұрын
I don't use a air lock most of the time I like open fermentation there isn't a set number of times you need to open the lid or anything I just open it whenever I need to check it but if you aren't using a airlock make sure the lid isn't sealed or it will explode 😂 just sit the lid on it to keep any possible bugs out and let it rock the CO2 produced keeps a layer on top of the mash wich protects the mash but in a fruit (Brandy) mash I always open it up 1 time a day to knock the cap down just to prevent and drying out or possible mold issues
