When I was 12, I dated a 14 year old who lived down the street. This was our song back then. We broke up and then ended up back together for almost 6 years in highschool/adulthood (from 2011 to 2017). He took his life last month. I've come back to listen to this song so much over the years and this is the first time I've listened to it since he passed. I'm 26 now, 27 soon, and he'll be 28 forever. This will forever be one of the sweetest memories of mine. 🤍

In the summer my mom would blast this song in the car with me and my sister. We would just cruise in the streets of our small town. It was as if the town was ours because it would be so late at night. Almost no one was out at the time. The windows would be down because our car ac didn't work but no one was complaining because the feeling of the wind in our faces made us feel fresh. Life was easy, the sky was shiny dark and blue, and Blue October made us all feel happy and chill. I thank my mom for making these little moments of my childhood.

Blue October is amazing. End of story. Personally, I'm just amazed how they can capture love, hate, self loathing, sadness, etc of a persons emotions. For instance, "Hate me" is so full of pain and anger at ones self for hurting the one he loves. The lyrics, his voice, everything about the song is so beautiful and intense.
