True, but SpaceX was much faster to launch. Blue Origin took its sweet time getting to launch, which raised hopes that it was much better prepared for landing. I'm not a SpaceX apologist, but I think this launch shows that there's no substitute for real-life experience; thus sort of validating SpaceX's approach.

I say well done to getting off the pad but to say its the first to orbit is a mile stone is a bit much, if you set a rocket on a none return path then yes its in orbit, but this took 10 years to build and on its first test the reusable first stage went wrong so I hope they have a full instigation like what X has to do and will the fisheries get involved because it didn't make the landing spot so the debris field wont be as indicated . Space X in my opinion is pushing boundaries in development to make a first and second stage reusable and to work out how to get re entry to work safely so as to have people in side and not just cargo. Blue origin has the moto slow and steady or it could be slow and see what others do be for we put pen to paper. COME ON FLIGHT 7 woop woop

Tough times in the space industry. Gone are the times when getting a massive upper stage into orbit on the first try got you any laurels. Blue Origin are not the first metholox to orbit. This was achieved by a Chinese commercial group last year. If you are comparing to Spacex the only close comparison is Falcon heavy as a semi reusable ship. Heavy has been delivering to orbit for a long time although the mass is not as much as BO may be capable of in theory as BO has yet to launch anything let alone take a larger payload into space. Well done to BO and they are now close to being a potential contender for the commercial space industry. Good to moving that way reuseable or semi is better than not resuable it makes it more commercially viable and in the competition. It is a shame that people / media make out that it is a competition for bragging rights. In business first to market is not always best commercially. Bragging that you are first yet still not profitable is not something many shout to loudly about. It will be interesting to see what the commercial market is for 40Mt payloads whether single or multiple satellite loads. Falcon heavy does not fly that regularly or as much as they could. Is this because the market is not there?
