Blue Panther is one of the longer trails in the new network at Lake Leschenaultia, near Chidlow in the Perth hills. It is a blue rated trail and feels like pretty old school hand cut, more natural single trail. It is surprisingly long and quite taxing - there are several uphill sections as well as some pretty rocky parts. There is a pretty cool log ride near the top, and the fast middle section (starting at about 2:00) features a bunch of jumps and drops in a row that is one of the most fun pieces of trail in the area. Definitely worth checking this one, but expect to be huffing and puffing by the bottom!
Filmed on my GoPro Hero 7 Black edition using a stuntman chest harness.

Hello. At this point I've ridden plenty of blue trails and am slowly improving on jumps and drop offs. I have not attempted a black trail yet, and should continue to become more comfortable with drops first, but nevertheless I am curious as to your thoughts on the easiest black trails in / near Perth? Ie which ones would be the best stepping stones to more difficult trails? Such info would be a good help to me in the future - I'd appreciate recommendations. Edit: and in addition, how about the most difficult blue trails, and how might they compare?

I would recommend trying a black anyway, even if you don't feel ready - just go slow and get off and look at any features before trying to ride them. There is never any shame in checking something out before you try and ride it. I like the Lancaster trail at Kalamunda - it is a black trail, but the features aren't ridiculous and they are well designed and flow well - it is a great trail to session and improve your skills. It is harder to compare blues as there are heaps of them and various things can make them more difficult eg how rocky they are or how dry and dusty it is (right now the trails are way harder than in winter when the moisture aids grip). The main difference is that on a blue everything should be rollable. On a black you will find non rollable drops and gaps. That is way a sighting run or even a walkdown on a black trail is a good idea. Alternatively, go for a ride with someone who knows the trails and follow them.

@@gamblore5148 Alright, noted, thanks for the advice! Will take a look at one of your Lancaster videos, and try an easy roll down it at some point in the future. :)

That is the single most boring track I have ever seen. How is that even a blue track?
