It's really great to see this loco back in business again. I first remember this loco (and class-mates) back in the days of BR steam when my grandfather was a travelling ticket inspector on the London-Edinburgh route in the '40s and '50s, when he introduced me to loco-spotting and many of the locos on the East Coast line. I believe this loco was chosen for preservation because it was the last to be overhauled (at Darlington Works) so was in good condition. In common with many LNER/BR steam locos it was named after a famous race horse. I know many people will remember it from the childrens' TV programme. It was a happy coincidence that the loco's name was the same as that of the TV programme. The programme was named after a naval signal flag (hence the nautical signature tune), but the coincidence led the programme to "adopt" the loco after preservation. P.S. Looks absolutely stunning in that blue!

Superb colour, great restoration. As a youngster, I remember the programme showing "532" (not 60532, like 4472 not 60103) . Although I'm a dieselite I do appreciate the great engineering here. It will look good out there. Good luck to all involved 👍

I first encountered Blue Peter looking rather forlorn and dusty in the 'Head Of Steam' museum at Darlington - we were ironically in the area to pay a visit to 'Tornado' which was in the process of being built just across the other side of the car park from the museum. At the time there seemed little prospect of Blue Peter ever moving under her own power again so I'm really delighted to have seen this day. I look forward to seeing her running around on the main line and hopefully a heritage line near me. She looks fantastic in Express Blue. Well done to everyone who was involved.

Blue Peter looks absolutely wonderful!! I didn’t realise Tornado had a preserved sibling / cousin (Tornado is a peppercorn A1, Blue Peter here is a peppercorn A2)! Would love to see the two engines meet up at some point. I hope the blue livery is kept, I always thought it looked nice on Tornado (who no longer has it) and the same definitely goes for Blue Peter! Plus it fits the name, after all. Anyway, wonderful work all!!

Fantastic to see 60532 back rather than stuffed in Barrow Hill where I last saw it some years ago - I was a kid at the TV program’s renaming ceremony at Doncaster works in November 1970 so I’ve always had a soft spot for the loco. I really look forward to it being out on the main line again.
