I have traveled many times from upstate New York down through I -81 & I - 77 to Charlotte for the Nascar races ! The view along I - 81 with the Blue Mts. is wonderful .As you descend down I - 77 to Charlotte the view is great . So for me Charlotte is a very unique city. The mountains to the north the offer hiking and skiing , the ocean about 2 hours away and the many offering of a modern city without being two crazy !Also an airport that offers many flights , lots of entertainment options ect. To sum it up, the advantages of a large city without the disadvantages.

Love North Carolina mountains! I am from Florida and almost every year except for the last five years we’ve been going to Brevard, North Carolina to go camping and mountain biking and hiking. I’ve never been to Boone, but if you’d like to go to Brevard it’s known for the land of waterfalls. Thank you for sharing I needed to see North Carolina again it’s been five years since I’ve been. What a wonderful birthday gift you got!
