So glad we got to visit Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky Mtns National Park this past summer. While in Asheville it rained hard for about an hour and some of the streets flooded, I can’t imagine how bad this storm was

Boy what a bad time for Blue Ridge to be shut off. Best time of year. Been there dozens of times motorcycling and camping in October. Its a absolutely stunning place especially if you can day dream back to the Revolutionary days.....its magical. Hope it opens for people to enjoy!

As a millennial I do my absolute best to find places with no signal and no amenities. Those places are the best, but I do admit they are becoming harder to find.

Great! National Weather Service just made things more complicated with the removal of Wind Chill. I have also noticed they don't use Heat Index anymore.

It is so sad about the Blue Ridge Pkwy. and all the devastation! The Forest River trailer is cool! The info about the things younger people are looking for in a camping experience was interesting. - Michelle

So bc some ppl are confused by the old weather terms, now we're not going to be told if wind is a factor? Or is that a detail that we'll be advised of separately in weather reports? Bc it seems the old way of saying it said it more clearly, & said it all. I don't like when information is dumbed down instead of educating ppl. Maybe I'm missing something in the story??? Ty though for your reporting. 👍
@rb27123 ай бұрын
Like the dumbing down Accuweather does for the heat index. They call it "feels like". Gee I am glad you told me because I was outside and couldn't figure out what my body felt.. Didn't know if I should "feel" good or feel bad.

If you tell me it’s -20° I say “Oh, it’s cold out.” If you tell me the windchill is -20° I’m actually more concerned/cautious because I know that can quickly change dramatically for the worse.. So tell me windchill. I do understand that people not familiar with the bite of northern winters might not understand this.

The tires on the OVE look skimpy...like toy tires that will fly off the trailer at highway speeds. It needs beefy larger tires and a suspension upgrade. Great episode as usual.. lots of content. Thank you!

What a coincidence that everything was running smoothly with Escapees until HH bought them. Then we had the major issue with addresses, which was a big problem for those of us with businesses. Now, on top of that, the parks are up for sale-but of course, the HH purchase had nothing to do with any of this...
@RVMiles3 ай бұрын
It might be more fair to say just that Harvest Hosts themselves had nothing to do with it, as neither the parks or the mailing service were bought by them. But the issues surely stem from the changes.
@joelmullins89653 ай бұрын
Their campgrounds are run down from a pack of investment. The issues with the mail service wreak of poor management The sale of the club to HH and the campgrounds on the market are more likely indicative of a bigger issue. The bigger issue being that the Carr’s children, who took over the business, have taken too much cash out and been too hands off in the management. Now it’s too far gone; I would be the mail service will be for sale next.

I really like the concept of Palomino’s E V O. I went their website to find more info, I had no luck. Hopefully it will be a decent price point. Bean Trailer released Bean Squared sleeps 4 it has A pop top as well. However cooking and dinning are out side like the square drops, But its priced and geared for rock crawling overlanders base price of 70k

Just avoid cold weather. That’s why RV’s have wheels. Cold weather sucks, cold weather with wind sucks more, or maybe it blows

How's this....if you see your breath outside its Cold, if there is snow on the ground its usually freaking cold and if you don't see your breath put on a sweater go and enjoy the outdoors. Now this theory does not apply to MINNESOTA, , MICHIGAN or Florida.🤑

I think some of the technology requirements gets back to a previous topic of yours and that was the question "What is camping?" When folks are doing more destination/resort camping the campground is closer to a hotel room than a back to nature campsite. As a Boomer I consider things like WiFi and cell access as requirements as they allow me to find things to do and places to eat in the local area. This is different than when we go to a state or national park where we are trying to get back to nature so we leave the computers at home and the phone is only used for emergency service. I suspect a deeper look would find a similar situation for the younger folks and as a group the difference is they tend to do more destination camping than the older generations.

Don't understand the entire parkway closure. It can be segmented and already was prior to the entire closure.
@kitbaker16293 ай бұрын
The warnings name changes make as much sense as their change of temp rep colors on maps! In whose world is hot pink very cold? Seems they're trying to further confuse the people who can't understand that a "tornado watch" means watch for and report a tornado and a "tornado warning" means one has been reported - take shelter. One more such "simplification" and they will have made themselves expendable.

I understand what's included in those vans but the prices, just like that of RVs, are freakin' insane. The companies might as well advertise "For rich campers/ travelers only. The rest of you poor/middle class suckers, eh, we got nothin' for ya 'cuz it's all about the money, & we're as greedy as it gets."

I'm happy that Mellennials want to do fake camping, that leaves more room in the boondocks for us authentic campers.

Sounds like Millennial's behavior is Lazy. 😄
@billping26333 ай бұрын
What millennials want is not camping. They don't get that the whole point of camping is to get away from technology and cities. Not bring it with you. They are so lazy they don't even want to set up their own camps or campers. That's really pathetic.
