Blue Rodeo is ingrained into our DNA here in Canada. Soundtrack to every event in our lives. Seeing them live at a summer festival is a quintessential Canadian experience. Grooving out on a mushroom buzz, singing along to Blue Rodeo is one of my favorite memories. Keep diving down the Blue Rodeo rabbit hole

After listening to rock/pop/country music for 50 years, Blue Rodeo is my absolute favorite lesser known band (I realize they're huge in Canada, but I'm in the States). Peace.

I'm a big Blue Rodeo fan. There are two lead singers and each have their own solo bands as well. The lead on this one is Jim Cuddy. I've seen Blue Rodeo and Jim's various bands over 50 times live. I loved seeing your reaction to this! Blue Rodeo really is their own genre.

Hi, hope you're doing well. They are the nicest guys. I am a stagehand in Calgary and have been fortunate enough to set up their gear load the men run the spotlight and then load them out. My favourite cue on spotlight it's when they started the intro to Diamond mine. I actually think I was on that for the whole song. Just want to say thank you and take care

@@mikewoods8565 I used to do backstage work mostly at our local theatre but he did some work in Toronto as well. I’ve heard all the stories about which artists are good guys and which are assholes. Lol. But yeah I’ve I’ve gotten a chance to spend some time with the guys and tell you they really are the nicest guys I remember being at a small underage club with 100 people that they played as a favour to the guy that ran the place and I remember after the show hanging out at a table with Jim and Greg and bars, and just shooting the shit and just chatting with everybody who wanted to see them and then when it was all done the least of their own apps out to the car and they drove off. Just super super nice guys. Little jealous of their gear. Lol.

@@RockN2Country They've been exposed, ha, ha! They've been around for about 40 years so it's hard to get more exposed than that! We've always considered them a country rock band here in Canada, if that helps. Of course, when they came out there weren't infinite sub-genres of genres. 😉

Listen to some of their songs from "5 days in July" Its considered the pinnacle of their achievements and much more country. Bad Timing would probably be the best (and most well known choice)

I just want to say thank you very much for highlighting Blue Rodeo. I am a stagehand in Calgary and they set up their show amen Spotlight many times. My favourite cue was to take my spotlight on this huge disco ball for the intro of diamond mind. If you could please react to a band called The Tragically Hip. Maybe the song courage , or Wheat Kings. There are just so many. It's a great band who had ironically a tragic ending , no it was not drugs. More Blue Rodeo and I thank you

I love your astute analysis of my all-time favorite band, Blue Rodeo. They are a genre unto themselves and Canada's best! This is an earlier song which has totally stood the test of time. They have a long and varied catalogue that goes from full-on country, to straight up rock, and the best blend of both. Enjoy!

As you seemed to guess, these guys are all top shelf musicians with a myriad of influences but the country is always there. Oddly they are actually from Toronto but it hasn’t stopped them from winning the hearts of Canadians everywhere. Lyrics & production are rarely not right on point. This song is a little more rocky than many. The album “5 Days In July” is full of good stuff. “Bad Timing” “5 Days in May” “Hasn’t Hit Me Yet” are all solid . Good on you for opening the door to these guys, really enjoyed your take! You obviously have a good ear !

Blue Rodeo is a Canadian brand that has been around since 1986 when they came out with Outskirts and the first single ''Try'' which you should check out as well. They're not country but a mix of jazz, rock, blues and country. Diamond Mine which is their second album is one that you should listen to especially the title track . Thanks for giving them a shot and hope you listen to more Canadian music

Hi Don, Thanks so much for sharing this with your viewers!! As so many have pointed out before me, Blue Rodeo is a very popular Canadian band. I've seen them more times than I can remember. I guess you could say I became an adult listening to their music. Personal fave are Till I'm Myself Again, Rain Down on Me, Lost Together, Dark Angel ...and the list could go on and on. I hope you continue to discover their music. Another great band is The Tragically Hip. They may not be right for your channel, but really worth the listen.

Hey Don, just came upon your channel, great reaction to one of my favourite bands!! Blue Rodeo's been around since 1984. They hail from Toronto, Canada. Rock-Country/Alt Country/Roots Rock would be best to classify them. Main two guys are Jim Cuddy & Greg Keelor - who trade off lead vocals depending on the song. This one was Jim. They have a deep well of fantastic tracks, all of which you should check out! Bad Timing (Jim), Diamond Mind (Greg), Try (Jim), 5 Days In May (Jim), Lost Together (Greg), Til I Am Myself Again (Jim), Hasn't Hit Me Yet (Greg), Head Over Heels (Jim)...for starters! I've seen them a few times, and each show was amazing! Top notch musicians, vocals, sound, including extended jams to some songs. Always incredible! On a sidenote, Jim Cuddy has done some solo albums, a great track to check is 'Too Many Hands'. Some great fiddle in there.

Hi Don - Blue Rodeo has been around since the early 80's. They're in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. I've always thought of them as Alt-Country (is that still a thing?). They've got a ton of music out there and you'll surely find many songs to enjoy (reacting to, or otherwise). You might try "5 Days In May" for your next reaction. They always bring good vocals, melody, and overall musicianship. Take care...

Hey Don, You should do a video on Hank Williams Jr’s ‘All In Alabama’. It’s a song he wrote after nearly being killed on Ajax Mountain. The song covers his troubles getting back on stage. Some people don’t know, Hank was so close to death. His brain was exposed for hours. This is when he swears a beard and dark glasses to hide his scars. Powerful song.

If trying to put Canadian Country Rock into an American genre is tough, be happy you’re not a Kentucky bluegrass aficionado trying to place “in hell, I’ll be in good company” by the Dead South! If you really want to explore outside the box, give it a listen. It’s uniquely Canadian.
