Garth Hudson from "The Band" often toured with Blue Rodeo as their lap steel guitar player

Yup, I thought you might relate to this story as a professional musician. I also remembered that Camila likes slide guitar. Alan Doyle (and his old band, Great Big Sea) are pretty great too. I never heard them before a couple of years ago when he opened for Blue Rodeo.

Liked the Rush reference to the down the tubes tour.

It’s fun to see other musicians join in, such as the lead singer of Great Big Sea. A funny story for a good song.

I’ve done gigs like this. 1 person, even no people at all and the manager of the place makes you play the whole night etc…my favorite was that we were a classic rock band playing mostly 50s-70s rock and we were booked to play in the beer garden at this festival, or so we thought, when we got there they said we were doing the teen dance. Now this was in the late 80s and we didn’t do 80s top 40 for the most part. So we scoured our song lists and came up with about 40 minutes of old songs that had been covered by newer artists and had been on the charts in the last few years along with the few newer songs we knew. We were booked to play 3 hours, the teenagers hated us so much we did the 40 minutes and packed it in with the blessing of the promoter.

I have always enjoyed this song and yes when I was dancing in a Tribal Belly Dance troupe we were asked to dance at the Red River Ex, it's a fair. They said we would be close to the beer gardens. The "stage" we were dancing on was waaay in the back where there was no one watching us other than the odd person who was eating a hot dog at the picnic table and was gone in five minutes. We should have danced to this song. LOL Geat Big Sea is another band you should check out. I think your wife may like them too.

Out of curiosity sakes I would like to point out some interesting trivia from this video. One of the guys singing is Alan Doyle of the NewFoundland band "Great Big Sea". He is just as well known in Canada as Jim Cuddy & Co. Here is the trivia part: If you are a fan of actor Russell Crowe's movies, you might think he looks a little bit familiar. You see, Alan is a good friend of Russell's and was cast in one of Crowe's most popular mainstream movies 'Robin Hood' back in the day as one of his singing, comedic relief merry men. Thought you two might find that interesting

I'm not going to set you off on another Canadian Odyssey, but you can tell from that "backup" voice....great Big Sea is a powerhouse band too. He remains best friends with Russel Crowe...yup.

I've never been a fan of Blue Rodeo, but they're a band where I don't change the station when they come on... The back-story adds something to the song, but it's still not a strong song.
