Dude, how cool is this!? I’m quickly feeling the need to get more into hand tools and every morning I get emails for this company and others . Can’t really afford to dump money into as I did last year as I was starting out. As I’m growing in this whole thing, the hand tools aren’t nearly as intimidating as they were even 6 months ago. I can’t wait to grow my skills in hand tools. It’ll happen. Wood working saved my life and to me it’s a great investment

100% a great investment! It has too many benefits to us as humans not to invest in the hobby. I just ordered the 1/8 inch bench chisel today. I can't wait. I was watching one of Rex Kruger's videos where he was describing the differences between socket and ferrule chisels, and I think the Blue Spruce are more like a combination. Typically the ferrule chisels have longer handles and blades than the socket chisels. The BS uses the ferrule, but the blade is shorter and the handle is smaller and where the wood meets the ferrule it even looks like a continuation of the socket on a LN chisel. The BS is balanced more like the socket chisels too. I think it is a great design. Thanks for the original video that made me start buying them: and put me in the poor house.😉😊

I've been watching less woodworking videos recently... has a Blue Spruce vs Cosman IBC showdown been done yet?
@BatCaveCreations4 ай бұрын
I haven't seen one but I did testing on my own. The IBC literally turned to Swiss cheese. The edge didn't hold at all. I had 2 of them. At first I thought it was a bad heat treat but both crumbled the same way. By the end of the testing I was at 30* because I had to sharpen so much and they still did bad. They were next to vintage stanley defiance in my testing :( I was very disappointed because I was really excited to try them out.

The tools from Blue Spruce are looking great and the reviews I have seen were great. So I decided to order two chisels to test their products by myself. But at the check the calculated shipping const to Germany of 90$. Hey, that would be nearly a third chisel. This is the same bs as with Woodpeckers (I wonder why ;-) ) I have ordered some things from different companies in the USA and none had such high shipping costs. For me it looks like these two companies want to make extra dollars with customers from countries outside North America. This is sad and I have unsubscribed from their newsletters. Please, don't get me wrong I would like to buy from such companies, but I be treated in a fair way.

@@BatCaveCreations I guess. They're right in that high end price range of three hundred dollars. So if their saws really are better than everyone else's they'd get more of that market. But if not then they'd just have more inventory.
@BatCaveCreations9 ай бұрын
@@1pcfred true.. I wonder if increased production would mean cheeper cost? Time will tell! Haha
@1pcfred9 ай бұрын
@@BatCaveCreations if you look at all the saws out there I'd say they're broken down into 3 price categories. There's the cheapest, the middle and the top. Blue Spruce is already right on the nose for what top end saws cost. $300 is the target price. There's no way they're going to make it into that middle tier. Which is around $100. You can entice those folks to maybe go up to $150 but that's it. They're not going to meet you any further than that. I don't see improving one op moving the needle that much on the product. So at that point you're just leaving profit in the table. You're not increasing your customer base any. The top end customers are not value conscious. A couple bucks isn't influencing their decision. The company might as well just take it from them.
