You’re NOT supposed to touch the lamp with your bare hand right?

FYI,Transformers are only needed on Heat Pumps due. Florida Heating & Cooling.

Are all UV lamps meant to stay on 24/7? Or are there some wired to turn on only when system is operating in some or any mode?
@ritahulland3356 жыл бұрын
For best results it needs to be on all the time. Your coil is even more susceptible when switched off. Leaving the UV light on when the system is off will provide assurance that your unit will be in tip top shape when you decide to turn it back on for operation.

Yes they are, unless they produce Ozone. Those are not recommended.

It depends on how you wired it into the system.

What prevent water dripping from the coil directly onto the lamp

I guess no one ever told that professional you're not supposed to touch the UV bulb.

The BlueTube UV lamps are Hard Quartz, they are not affected by grease on your fingers, or humidity, or temperature above 32 deg F.

shhhh... that was supposed to be a secret. bulb sales is where the big profits are xD

What about the electrical installation? I did not see that :(

24vac can be obtained from the existing transformer, or, a seperate transformer installed. Takes 16va. 110-277vac can be obtained from the line voltage of the unit.

How do you test that the bulb is working?

Will the air flow pressure cause the lamp to come loose and fall/break inside the unit?
@0digger0816 жыл бұрын
If it did that, I'd guess the company would not stay in business very long.

The magnet is very strong. We have never had one release in 13 years.

Does the uv damage the wiring? And if so,what’s the best way to protect it from the UV?

Never ever touch the bulb with hands easy to wear gloves

Your not supposed to touch the lamp with your hands 🙌.

That UV light is going to eat up that insulation and wiring.

It's too bad that the intensity of UV that comes out of this product is insufficient to stay ahead of mold growth. No 24v system can drive a germicidal lamp to produce the intensity needed. To buy this product is to waste your money.

0Digger0 you have no idea what your talking about

I have conducted numerous tests on UVC output. The intensity coming off this and every other 24V solution I have tested on the market is woefully insufficient to stay ahead of mold growth on a coil and has negligible effect on anything in the airstream. You simply cannot drive a germicidal lamp to an intensity of output needed in a 24V operation. These manufacturers make 24V solutions because they do not need UL certification and there is less chance the homeowners will hurt themselves when installing it. But I stand by my earlier comment that to buy this solution is to throw your money away on a preety blue light that can not provide the solution claimed by the manufacturer.

If you want to treat the air. Get a better return filter system I would suggest. As for stopping the growth on a coil it would be a good idea to treat it rather then not at all.

@@AndrewHorezga The key is the output, not the draw. The output is measured in microwatts per centimeter squared. (µW/cm²) For organisms most commonly found in an HVAC Coil, you'll want 750µW/cm² at any given point on the coil face minimum if you expect the UVC to be effective on organisms on the surface AND through the coil. Factoring in that UVC lamps lose intensity over time, the key is to find the one with greatest output in your HVAC system to clean and maintain cleanliness until a lamp change out is called for. This product is clearly not the choice for answering the problem.

Actually, mold growth on surfaces only requires 2 microwatts of energy if you have unlimited time. Therefore, any output greater than 2 will not allow any microbial growth to survive. And the 24volt ballast was designed to provide the same input voltage as any 110-277vac ballast. It's all about the AMPS baby.
