In the Book “ Eaters of the Dead”, The story does not end. The book ends with an enormous creature raising from the sea in front of the boat Ibn is traveling on. Michael Creighton cleverly writes this story claiming at the start as tale he found hidden and lost in libraries that he came across. The movie was made as part of a production deal with Creighton to make one of his other books into a film, so I think it was not highly publicized upon its release. It's also fascinating for people who like movies and moviemaking and the history of movies to see what difference 22 years can make in the way movies are produced. The differences and sharp contrasts between movies then and movies now are significant. And yes, this movie is 22 years old, which is ancient in terms of technological development. I'm a sucker for sword fighting battle films, and The 13th Warrior is one of my favourites, along with Braveheart, The Last Samurai, King Arthur 2004, Excalibur 1981, Troy, 300, Gladiator, The Last of the Mohicans and Conan the Barbarian, and many many others, I can't get enough of them.

..and the scenery doesnt look like a real Viking setting. It looks like the forest of Canada, British Columbia, or even Washington State in the US, no the coast of Norway and its high cliffs and deep Fiords.

@@pixsilvb9638 Surprise...there are forrests in scandinavia aswell ;) AND the nature in Scandinavia looks pretty much as the nature in Canada and Northen USA ;) How can i tell?.......well, im ethnical Swede, live in Sweden, and most surely got blood of the vikings in my vanes.

I was floored to learn that the story was heavily inspired by Beowulf. So yea, it is a Viking/Old English story. Beowulf was an Old English story about Danes after all. Dr. Jackson Crawford has cool video explaining the references to Norse myths/ hero stories, and Beowulf that Michael Crichton used for his book that the movie is based on.

In every battle like movie, there's a speech. This though, is straight to the point with a meaning so deep......IYKYK kinda vibe. Last words were a prayer and fight to the death. Bulvai is a fu**in' BEAST!!!!

The himn is a universal path anyone can go and be well. As a ortodox christan i took it, learn it and memorise it, and its my prayer as a man. I need it coz i cant fight people bring with negativity and hatred. I wanna smile on battles like they do. Thakn you Viking, and Nodic people, you are great people.

As I have traveled down life's highway since the release of this movie, I have, thankfully rarely, come across the "man" who does not like this film and that he especially does not 'get" this scene. My response has always been the same; that if I have to explain it, you would not understand anyway.
