I was so surprised when I first heard that too. I believe some other remixed Pokemon songs do that and its so cool when they do. I think another example would be the PLA Warden Theme with the Sinnoh Elite Four Theme, and the PLA Giratina theme with the Platinum Giratina theme

Why they changed that more serious part to a very happy pixely music I don't understand. You get used to it but it doesn't fit that well in my opinion. However the way the rest sounds in the DLC seems to me like it has more punch to it.

That’s the Blueberry academy theme- you can hear it when anywhere in Blueberry Academy outside of the Terarium. They just incorporated some of that theme into this one to distinguish it from the original, and make it more clearly a Blueberry Academy battle theme.
