No need they came out fantastic! So delicious. I had to immediately take samples to the rest of my family. The women yelled at me complaining about a wedding they had to attend next month as they enjoyed the bars. I'm gonna make more this weekend.

Chef John - on behalf of myself thank you for this recipe. I made this for 200 children and about 50 staff at camp. It went down ridiculously well and very swiftly with more people wanting seconds than i could cater for. Myself and the campers thank you for this recipe. *shakes hand*

Just made these tonight. I used frozen blueberries AND frozen strawberries to make like, a half and half batch. I also added some lemon juice to the last 25% of the crumbly stuff and let me tell you, Chef John: yes. So good.

A good alternative to the pastry cutter for the butter is grate cold butter with a cheese grater into a bowl or on a plate. I use a paper plate. Stick it in the freezer for five minutes and then use a pastry blender or a couple of forks to mix it into the flour mixture. Or you could just grate right into the flour mixture and then it's super easy to mix.

Chef John, What are some nice fruits to mix? Would peaches and strawberries work? Could we add rasberries to it as well? Thanks again and it looks great!
@masercot7 жыл бұрын
Made it (without the lemon zest) and it was pretty good. I feel that strawberry pieces would taste better than blueberries in this recipe. If I make it with strawberries, I'll report back on how it turned out....
@masercot7 жыл бұрын
Strawberry was a little better, but I think I can find a better fruit. Peaches, I'm looking in your direction...
@masercot6 жыл бұрын
Tried it with peaches, today. I think that's the best fruit for this. I cut up some peaches and sprinkled some sugar because they weren't entirely ripe. I used half five-spice and half cinnamon. Didn't even peel the peaches. Tastes a lot like cobbler...

So I made adjustments to this menu. AS WE ALL SHOULD DO! I used gluten-free flour and made the measurements x2 (because I used a larger dish),except for the butter (used 100g only). Also I used cinnamon and vanilla from a pod instead of the nutmeg. 1/2 of my dish I only used blueberries and in the second 1/2 i used blueberries along with white chocolate and brazilnuts. Gonna be done from the oven anytime now....YUM!!!! My Flat smells sooooooooooooo AMAZING!!!!
