The last few minutes of this video actually brought tears to my eyes. after all the hard work and dedication that you all have done it must of been heartbreaking to see her go through the gate for the last time, let’s just hope she gets the same love and respect in her new home as you all showed her all them years. 😢

Well put together film. Can’t help but feel disappointed that all parties didn’t find best solution for all. My story has many similarities re Donald’s Jetstar. Nobody bothered to ask me to confirm intentions for K7 yet Ken Norris AND museum discussed with me. Having restored her again a second time and uncovering so much forgotten history, I was always looking forward to driving her with Robbie if K7 returned to lake. Such a shame as we have great memories despite lack of comms.

Yes, the Bluebird Project put in a hell of a lot of graft to get K7 up and running but our work fell foul to jealousy, greed and spite in the end. The less competent grew jealous of how we got things done whilst the greedy ones had designs that didn't fit with Bluebird Project's not-for-profit model. Now they're all going the long way around trying to emulate what we already achieved whilst the public have missed five years of seeing a running boat. For a museum that's supposed to serve the public interest its beyond belief.

What a shame, imagine if they kept to the agreement and once a year let it run on Coniston, the amount of people and tourism from all over the world this would of created! Shame on them, and they should be boycotted. Absolutely disgusting.

I wish I had a lotto win to build you an extra museum just for Bluebird, what a shame that a piece of British history goes down the drain. Long live memories of Bluebird, Donald Cambell, & all your hard work that went into this project, I wish you all the best & thank you 🙏

What's the fuel consumption on one of these engines at full throttle?
@TheBluebirdProject
@TheBluebirdProject 10 ай бұрын
We never run them at full throttle for more than short bursts but historical data suggested the boat was good for three runs on the course on Coniston on a full tank so call it 10 miles and that would use approximately 60 gallons of jetfuel. On Bute we used around 20 gallons to do 3 miles so it tallies quite well. Bill

Or just connect Smith to the engine it would hit the speed of sound with all that hot air 👍🏻

I totally understand your situation. A group of friends and myself restored the National railways museums Deltic locomotive, 55002 to operational condition. Raising a considerable amount of money in doing so, after their neglect in looking after “a nation’s asset”. To cut a long story short, never trust and volunteer for these kind of organisations, they will shit on you.

You guys did an amazing thing which was truly inspirational and you did it with a profound and obvious respect for the craft and for Donald himself. from following the Project's website as to how the project has been treated, it strikes me that the way they have behaved is a sad and, I have to say, disgusting reflection of the attitude of the charitable sector in the UK these days. I dont know what else to say. The way the law is being weaponised these days is something I despise about the era we live in. I hope you undertake many more projects in the future that bring you all fulfilment, joy and inspiration and thank you for what you did.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes, it's true enough, the Bluebird Project team, its families, supporters and backers from industry have been treated shamefully but there are other projects and, you never know, in the fullness of time, the spiteful people responsible for recent events may be replaced with kinder souls and a better outcome eventually arrived at.

Somehow, let’s get the blue bird to America. And show the history of it in honor of Campbell. There has to be donations pulled together to get a project like this done somebody in America. Some group will do that we are thirsty for fast, boats and history like this. I can’t fandom how sad I am to see this. Our family has raced boats since I’ve been eight years old. I am 57 years old now. I’d be chewing at the bit to jump in the driver set and show it off. Lol 🤙🏼

Part of the agreement was that Bluebird Project would take K7 out of the museum for 90 days of the year to promote the museum, the Bluebird Project, Donald Campbell's legacy and British engineering. 90 days came about because Gina Campbell wanted to take Bluebird to America and Australia and 90 days gave 30 days sea passage, 30 days on site for on-water runs and display then 30 days back again.

There's obviously a lot of people very disappointed at how the Bluebird Project has been treated but hopefully now, with the benefit of hindsight, the wishes of the public are being seen in the right context. The good news is that the Bluebird Project is going nowhere so you never know what the future holds.
