Another fact about N's text speed: as you mentioned, his text speed is fast, even if the settings have it set to slow or medium. If you have your settings set to fast, there is a special text speed that is even faster that only N can use

I remember seeing an interesting take on the Eevee evolution thing in Yellow. Beating your rival twice makes him evolve it into jolteon so he can finally have some advantage over pikachu since jilteon has volt absorb, countering pikachu. Losing both battles seems to make your rival cocky, so he evolves it into vaporeon to show he thinks he can still beat pikachu despite the disadvantage, losing one and winning one makes your rival take the evolution that has to particular advantage or disadvantage to pikachu. Kinda cool how it may show some kind of slight development of the rival through subtle gameplay
@motodog242 Жыл бұрын
But abilities weren’t in the game, so Volt Absorb would make no sense. Jolteon still hold an advantage as the best electric Pokémon in Gen 1 (outside of Zapdos), due to crit being related to speed, and Double Kick and Pin Needle with a resistance to Pikachu’s STAB made it have that advantage. Flareon is an unfortunate Pokémon and probably easier to beat than Vaporeon for Pikachu. Vape at least had a high special to take a hit and deal back; Flareon’s STAB was different than its better atk stat.
@neog8029 Жыл бұрын
Abilities didn't exist in Yellow. But I do like the idea that the rival gets so salty over losing twice to your Pikachu that he goes out of his way to have his own electric type.

On the topic of ghosts: In RBY, the unidentified Ghosts in Pokemon Tower will have the same color palette as the Pokemon that was meant to appear. Cubone and Marowak have a different color palette than Gastly and Haunter (the difference is subtle in Red & Blue however), and the Ghost spawned through the Missingno. glitch has Missingno.'s colors. Because the sprite palettes for Cubone/Marowak and Gastly/Haunter are updated in Yellow, this effectively means that the Ghost sprite comes in five different colors across all Gen I games.

One thing I have always wanted added to the games is an ability for only Suicune. It's whole deal is that it purifies water, and purified water doesn't conduct electricity. Your take on PokeRus and its initial origin has sparked my interest. It had me thinking with my last Crystal playthrough that if there is more to it. Maybe I'm over-analyzing but I do think it's somewhat peculiar that the virus can be had after reaching Goldenrod. All I'm saying is that, by sea, Goldenrod is really close to Cianwood and Olivine...Olivine has a sick lighthouse Pokemon. Just north of the lighthouse after a very small route, there's a sick Miltank on a farm. Cianwood has a man running a pharmacy with intense medications. Like I said, I could be way off. The two ways the Pokemon are healed with assistance from the player are different; though, the sheer closeness of the a sick Ampharos and Miltank might have some connection or story that has yet to be fleshed out.

I wouldn't go saying "I wish they still added little details like such and such..." because of both how long it takes for these sorts of things to be found and how much you have to dig to find them for these videos (Which are great, keep up the good work). You really never know when it comes to these things.

Itd be nice if Sunny Day had an effect on Diglett if they continue with the weakness to sunlight.. itd be great if they took into account specific pokedex facts and applied them to gameplay

Yeah, like the fact Munna is supposed to have Levitate or Abra is supposed to have Comatose (Komala's Ability) according to Pokedex Entries
@JR3842 жыл бұрын
I feel like the perfect way to do that would be to give them Solar Power or some unique hidden ability like it. They get some kinda boost in return for being damaged by sunlight at the end of each turn.

@@JR384 Dry Skin would be really good as well. Maybe too good actually...
@JR3842 жыл бұрын
@@shytendeakatamanoir9740 I would've suggested that over Solar Power if not for the fact that Dry Skin comes with the beneficial effect of being healed in the Rain. It'd be a bit strange if a Pokemon weak to Water moves was able to be healed by Rain.

I love the idea maybe Fairy types being able to find wild pokemon with held items at a higher rate. Kinda like how Fire types and Poison types can't be burned or poisoned respectively, I think dark types should be immune to confusion.

Same, when Gen 1 came out, it felt like the fact about the Rival's Eevolutions to Jolteon/Flareon/Vaporeon was common knowledge - like I remember reading about it in an old walkthrough or something, together with the tip that to get past the first gym (Pewter), you either have to grind a Caterpie up to Butterfree, or catch the lone Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest. But then that was 20+ years ago, so info can be lost to time, I guess

Adding to the shuckle tidbit, if you keep having it hold the berry juice, it’ll eventually turn into rare candy.

That's true. I used to grind with a shuckle in Crystal for just that reason. I guess he didn't stumble on that part of the mechanic.

after the diglett encounter stuff you said "I wish they still cared about adding these type of things" - except they do. don't let ur nostalgia get you confused. legends arceus has clefairies dancing on nights of the full moon as a ref to the HGSS dancing event, vaporeon in SV dissolving away as a reference to the pokedex saying it can evaporate, pincurchin hiding under wild Wugtrio's, zoroark/ditto imitating other pokemon in the wild in SV, lycaroc dusk being able to found in the wild when the sky is orange. all the games still have soul, its just gen's 1-4 hit harder cause you were probably 10 and had no clue what was going on.

On other type possibilities: Fire types could get rid of the Frozen condition in your party after a battle, Electric types could turn a rainstorm into an ambient thunderstorm, Fighting types could decrease the base friendship of a Pokemon you encounter, Poison types could ward off Grass types...there are so many possibilities, from useful things to flavorful things.

The gameboy/DS games have so many tiny details that really make the games special. Modern pokemon very much needs more of that. GF really needs to focus on its older fanbase a lot more. Like do kids these days still like pokemon like that? Honest question. Seems like people 20 through 40 are the pokemon companies bread and butter

About the N fact: you can get his Pokémon in the sequels, not the first game, and the only one you get for free is the Zorua. It’s been a long time, but if I remember correctly, you can encounter his other Pokémon by connecting the bw2 file with a completed(?) black/white game, which will unlock extra N-focused cutscenes. His Pokémon will start spawning in certain routes after that, and they have a special entering battle animation that’s very missable because of Zorua’s illusion ability

The rival Eevee evolution actually makes a whole lot of sense if you think about it: -Beat him both times = Jolteon. Your rival knows you're a threat so he evolves his ace into an electric-type that can resist the attacks of your ace, Pikachu. -Lose to him both times = Vaporeon. Your rival thinks you're a pushover and mocks you by deliberately evolving his ace into a water-type that is weak against your ace Pikachu. It's the exact oppositie compared to the Jolteon situation. -Beat him once, lose to him once = Flareon. It's the middle ground. You and your rival are on the same level so he chooses the fire-type that is neutral against your ace, seemingly not taking your Pikachu into consideration.
