4:11 no freaking way, I thought I was stupid, I’ve always been a crazy Game completer because I do almost everything the game have to offer to obtain everything. So I used Google to find every hidden item in every single route with the Item finder. And I picked the item on the gill before the one in Wayward Cave, but when I went there I tried to find the red shard for an hour and I couldn’t figure out what I did wrong because the guide clearly showed me there was a red shard in that cave. After all these year I finally got the answer, Thankyou so much been a huge fan of this series since the start 😂

Here's something I thought was interesting. Everyone knows about the Odd Egg in Pokemon Crystal, and how it can randomly hatch into Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid, or Magby. But what's important to note is that they all come with Dizzy Punch as a move that cannot be obtained normally. Presumably, this move came from the parent of these Pokemon, as a way to teach the player about Egg Moves. However, it is impossible for either parents of these Pokemon to be able to pass down Dizzy Punch, because the only Pokemon that can learn Dizzy Punch in Gen 2 is Kangaskhan. Kangaskhan is a Female-Only Pokemon species, meaning that it's impossible to pass Dizzy Punch down since breeding it will only produce more Kangaskhan. But in Gen 4, even though the Odd Egg isn't available in HGSS, there is 1 Pokemon that can be the potential male parent of every Odd-Egg Pokemon except for Cleffa and Igglybuff (due to how egg groups work), capable of learning Dizzy Punch: Lopunny Edit: also, my favorite Pokemon is a tie between Dunsparce and Anorith.

Obscure fact: there's a name filter that prevents players from naming pokemon naughty things. An interesting tidbit that I don't think everyone is aware of, is that many moves have changed their animation mid generation. In G1 and G2 it was only for localization (G1 toned down flashes in moves like Hyper Beam or Thunderbolt... ironically though, some were made WORSE, like those in Confusion and Hypnosis - before being toned down properly in Yellow. G2 has different animation for SonicBoom, for whatever reason), G3 has nothing as far as I know, but I could be wrong. But then G4 started doing things, like how Spacial Rend looks different in Diamond and Pearl, or how Thunder looks different in HeartGold and SoulSilver. This would then happen again in G5 with some moves like Aeroblast, Overheat, Shadow Claw, or Night Daze having different animation in Black 2 and White 2, and even again in G6, though it's harder to tell because this is the 3D era now. I know in ORAS, at least two moves were changed - Fire Blast (it now resembles the 大 more) and Thunder (the electric effects are noticeably different; you can easily tell by checking Mixeli's video from 2018 about this move). Some changes are easier to tell, some you wouldn't be able to tell unless you saw the different animations back to back. This technically also happens in G7, but Let's Go games are on Switch while Alola games are on 3DS, so I don't really think it's that notable. Anyway, my favorite Pokemon is Bellossom.

I'd like to see someone on YT make a video on the strongest to weakest stat pokemon (or something to that affect) in any or every pokemon game.

Maybe someone has suggested this, or it's common knowledge, but i witnesses this happen to my brother: in Pokemon Sapphire, my brother was doing the Wally capture tutorial, and that's when a shiny showed up. No, not the Ralts, but the lent Zigzagoon was shiny! I feel extra bad, cause that's the ONLY shiny my brother has "found" XP

It can happen, it's known. But still very sad :(

I encountered something that I think only I've experienced so maybe you or the community can answer this 19-year long mystery for me. Story time! So, the first main series pokemon game I beat was Ruby/Sapphire. My older brother bought Sapphire for me and Ruby for himself the day the game released (only mentioning in case having a Day 1 cartridge is relevant). Anyways, this is where I encountered by first shiny, which was Wingull. I was excited and thought it was a glitch at first, but I caught it anyways, and had my own Wingull with red stripes instead of blue. I was nervous to evolve it into Peliper, but sure enough, the red markings stayed, and I had a shiny Peliper. Neat! Fast forward to high school about 10 years later. Some friends and I were talking about our first shiny encounters, and I mentioned the Wingull. I mentioned that I like how the red looked, even though Wingull isn't the most exciting pokemon. My friend looked at me like I was stupid, and told me something. Shiny wingull doesn't have red stripes. They're supposed to be green. I told him he was wrong, and looked it up when I got home. Literally speechless. It was green. Same with Peliper. I did the logical thing and took a colorblindness test because I know CB people can mix up those colors, but my eyes worked fine. I tried to think back HARD, and I know it was red even to this day. Red and green are opposite on the color wheel, so there's no way I could confuse it for a color so opposite. I've tried googling this, and NOTHING comes up. My running theory is that some shinies may have been different when the game first released, but nothing I've researched has supported this. If anyone asks where the cartridge is now, in probably one of the top 3 worst decisions in my life, I traded it into a GameStop to put money towards a Nintendo DS. Bad move, lost my favorite childhood cartridge, and the mystery with it, and what's worse is that my sister broke my DS a year later lol. Anyways, assuming my 8 year old eyes didn't mistake the colors on ONE pokemon in the entire game and I actually saw what I saw, I would love to see this mystery tackled. It's such a minute mystery about a minute pokemon, so I'm curious to see if this will every get an explanation. Thanks!

I can't find anything on it either I'm afraid..Maybe you got some rare cartridge that had a few differences?

Wow, this was a great video!!! I really thought there wasn't much I didn't know, and you proved me wrong! And what a heartwarming story about Jirachi. (Also loved the pause screen, gotta say my favorite has to be Pikachu, go figure, but it was my first and has remained as such) so thanks for making my day! And I can't wait to check out your other videos!!! 😎🎶

That's crazy about the Jirachis! Though I have to say every time I hear somebody's story about finding a shiny after hundreds or even thousands of encounters I become more convinced that I could never be a shiny hunter, since I simply do not have that kind of patience. I still would like a random shiny though as I've never gotten one (the only shinies I have are from distributions, or guaranteed ones like the shiny Ponyta in Legends Arceus). In fact, I'm pretty sure one of my partners in a raid I joined a couple days ago in Sword had a shiny Latios, cause I remember thinking "I don't think Latios is teal."

So, Phin, thanks for the great content. I really hope that you will see this comment, because you made me enjoy Pokemon again. Thanks for the incredible videos and I hope that your channel will keep growing, cuz ya deserve it, mate. Also, Grovyle, no matter that I usually start Gen 3 with Mudkip. One love ❤️

Jokes on you, Phin. I watch DankPods so I ALWAYS pause to read the full screen walls of text that only stay on screen for one second. My fave pokemon is Hisuian Typhlosion!

I've got no way to prove it or nothing to gain, but I had gotten a shiny Jirachi from the colosseum bonus disk many years back while hunting for a modest one. It died with a reset out of laziness with carrying it forward or went on with one of the cartridges being sold off on ebay, honestly I have no idea. I never thought it was a big deal. :(

It's really not as big a deal as he makes it out to be. He didn't research this well.

I had only played White once, just finished recently; I got into gen 5 super late. And I had no idea that beating Bianca without getting hit was rare. I feel dumb not knowing that. She just kept growling at me. It's cool to know that I experienced something so uncommon.

The patience of some people is insane. I could never imagine shiny hunting, props to the people who have the determination to reset thousands of times for a different coloured pokemon. I wish I was that patient.

8:10 Always Loved Ditto, and Mew. Then I played Moon and decided to try Rowlett as I rarely pick Grass Starters for the first run. He got to level 34 and Decidueye instantly became my new favourite, after 7 Generations.

I don’t know if you’ve included this one or if you’ve already seen it, but one I know is that in RSE, once you get to the second gym city, you can just go into the cave where you have to find Steven, and talk to him to get the mail, and then you can just move on to the next town. You can actually continue playing the game from here without beating the second gym all the way through the third and fourth gym, because the first check for the second gym badge is at your father’s gym

8:15 I wanted to note that the Colosseum Bonus Disc actually does not recognize Pokemon Emerald; ONLY Ruby and Sapphire work, as I'm assuming they didn't plan ahead for Emerald's release. Love the video! Was very surprised that Jirachi could be Shiny. I used to transfer them to Pearl so I could trade them for anything I wanted on the GTS.

I knew Wishmkr Jirachi could be shiny for at least 10 years, but didn't know it was never actually found until recently. Also, I'm glad to hear shiny hunting content is gaining popularity again. I know it was really popular here on TY in the Gen 5/6 days. When it comes to shiny hunting though, I wonder if anyone has ever encountered a Colo/XD shiny and still be shiny after catching it... Also, correction nitpick, but Jirachi doesn't work with Emerald, only Ruby/Sapphire

Just so you know I’m sure it was just a mistake but the Jirachi was not a pre order gift for XD Gale of Darkness. The Wishmaker Jirachi disk was a preorder gift for the first Pokémon Colosseum game. The only preorder gift for XD in the states that I know of was a Shadow Luigia skin for the GameCube. You can tell even more when you see that the preorder box features the protagonist of the first Colosseum game as well as both the first game and the wish maker movie releasing around the same time.

I don't know if it's common knowledge or not, but in hgss when Ethan/Lyra teaches you how to catch a pokemon, Lyra speeds through it on her first attempt and has to show you again while Ethan properly shows you the first time. I just found out while getting the starters traded on one profile

Nice ending, you actually captured the essence of the Law of Great Numbers in statistics. It doesn't matter how unlikely an event is, if you have enough repetitions, eventually all outcomes will come true at least once.

I spent so much time as a child trying to get shiny Pokemon in Fire Red. I didn’t want to lose my game save, but really wanted a shiny Charizard so left mine in a daycare centre with a ditto. I kept hatching all the eggs and releasing them until I got a shiny. I hate to think how much time I spent doing this, but it was well worth it!

I don't know why I remember this, but I believe that "Glitch City" using the Safari Zone was also supposed to be supporting evidence for the "different Fuscia City" map which is why Glitch City has a different boundary layout than Fuscia city does.

I think a good future video idea would be “Holy Grail” shinies, a ranked list of shinies which are either extremely difficult to get legit or can no longer be hunted due to being tied to past events.
