Vaporeon in Yellow is coded to learn both Mist and Haze at the same level. However due to the way the game is coded, a Pokémon cannot learn two moves at once because of this, it can't learn Mist. There is a way around this, train the Vaporeon in the day care south of Cerulean City and it can learn both Mist and Haze. My hours of checking the trivia on Bulbapedia have paid off.

That Gogoat looks nearly identical to non-shiny Gogoat, so I'd assume it was a beta pallet for the non-shiny, maybe even just weird lighting. The sparkles are part of the trade animation if I'm not mistaken, not the shiny sparkle. In Generation 4, TM 62 was Silver Wind, but Silver Wind was deprecated in Gen 8. Instead of re-adding it, they replaced with a similar (special bug-type) move which wasn't a TM (Bug Buzz was previously only TR 61 in SwSh, and never a TM in previous generations). Dewgong is currently named after the dugong, the closest living relative to manatees (which the pokemon resembles a lot more), so equally original as Seel is based on "seal" and Manaty is based on "manatee."

And you cant use the excuse that its a pun (dew + dugong), because the word 'seel' also has another meaning. It refers to the rolling of a ship in a storm. Fitting for a water type. @@boot-4704 not exactly, some friends of mine didn't know that until I told them, they thought any pokemon that went over the limit would stop obeying them, they explained to me that they thought that because they misinterpreted the sentence said always after you get a badge, after a while I found out that actually a lot of people ended up misinterpreting the sentence and also that it ended up being mistranslated in some versions of translation hackroms. Well, even though it's a well-known thing, a lot of people still get confused about it, I found it interesting to comment on it just in case someone who hasn't understood it had it explained now.

Cool facts! Though, I’m pretty sure shiny Pokémon palettes were automatically chosen and generated by the games themselves until Gen 5, so the Mt. Pyre thing is probably just a coincidence. Also Chimecho doesn’t look green at all to me .-.
@BlueBoyPhin3 жыл бұрын
Well that’s actually not true! There was certainly ones that were chosen even since the start, hence the arcanine and nine tails I showed in the video being gold and silver and version exclusive to those games as well

As an add-on to the last bit of potential trivia, Chimeco also looks like a teru teru bōzu or “shine shine monk” and it’s a handmade doll that farmers used to make in Japan to ward off rain and young kids in Japan still make them. Wikipedia states “this talisman is supposed to have magical powers to bring good weather and stop or prevent a rainy day”. I think “good weather” could also be described as also not having Groundon’s droughts or Kyogre’s floods! Edit - Castform is the other pokemon who is supposed to resemble a teru teru bōzu

a bit of a sad fact: in the Johto story (only counting important trainers [gym leaders, rival battle, team rocket, e4, champion] and without the Kanto postgame, and assuming you've picked Chikorita, like me), there are only FIVE Pokémon weak to Grass: Chuck's Poliwrath, Pryce's Seel, Dewgong and Swinub, and Bruno's Onix.

With the shiny Duskull, Shuppet and Chimecho, it was just a big coincidence, since all shinies before Gen 6 were randomly generated by a computer program, hence why a lot of pre-Gen 6 blue pokemon had pink shinies. I love the theory though, with them representing Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza.

TM 62 feels like a bit of a stretch. There's however a stronger connection in Pokémon Masters EX. They pretty recently released a unit named Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) who happens to have Giratina as her partner pokémon.
@hollylucianta67113 жыл бұрын
TM62 is definitely not a reference to the romhack. In the original Gen IV TM62 was Silver Wind, but I suspect the developers of BDSP recognized that Bug Buzz was a far superior special Bug move and replaced it. The two moves are too similar for it to be coincidence.

I don't know how well this is known, but I believe in Black/White 2, in Accumula town, there's a trainer who you can trade Pokémon with, your Hippowdon for their Alakzam (which is doubly cool since you can actually get Alakzam without the need of another player). After you trade Pokémon they ask for a battle. The funny thing about it is, if the Pokémon you traded them was shiny, it's still shiny in that battle (which I know may sound obvious) . I checked the bulbapedia page for Accumula town and this wasn't listed in the trivia section, also it's so specific that I'm not sure if others know of it.
