How do wind auditions work? If everyone's playing together how do they know who to pick out from the group

Angus Hsieh we have a fairly normal rehearsal musically, and then get called in one by one to have an audition with one of the respective techs for each section. As for visually, we basically do a 2 hour long basics block, mostly factory style (line by line, not a full block) and each visual tech is assigned a different line to watch.
