I could be wrong on this one, but I feel like 147 should be notated as a ripple roll. At least for me as a performer, that would be easier to read.

You're right tbh but I just didn't want it to sound bad in my program, lol. However, the velocity of the ripple roll should be notated sometimes for context imo.

Just curious, is there a reason you didnt write it in 12/8? I feel like I'm missing something
@AmealYT21 күн бұрын
To me, I think it is easier to read this as 4/4 on a marching standpoint because it is a bit more clearer where the down beat is and that indicates foot timing. However for the pit I do believe it is more readable in 12/8 👍🏼

Also, it's more consistent when the meter is quarter note based the whole movement
@starbrightinfinity33298 күн бұрын
@@AmealYTYou’d conduct it like 4/4 so it wouldn’t change from that perspective.

would 12/8 fit the start better than 4/4 due to all the triplets?
@mra957725 күн бұрын
I agree, I think 12/8 would save ink & make more sense. But I also think arrangers avoid writing complex meter sometimes because it's kind of fallen out of style. Young players seem to understand it better in 4/4 with triplets. Granted this is drum corps, but still.
