I did Google plant search after photographing your plant at 7:28. I looks like Paspalum guadaloupense also described broadleaf carpet grass. I have been watching your videos for quite some time and I admire the fact that you have taken the time not only to identify the weeds, but also have obtained first-hand knowledge of how to control and/or eradicate them. You have quite an encyclopedia of knowledge in your mind. Very impressive, to say the least.

Thank you for making this video! I live in South Carolina and I am just now learning about the different weeds in my lawn. It seems I have nothing but weeds so I’ve decided to let the carpet grass grow and kill the rest. I have the hard orange clay in most of my yard that is common around our Lake Murray. In the back I have decided to embrace the moss. We’ll see how it goes.

I have all of those types of grasses in my yard. I gave up years ago on trying to control it. We had a long dry hot spell early in July that turned most all of the grass brown and then it rained every day for a week and the lawn revived but crabgrass and and other weedy grasses have taken over and the lawn needs mowing about every four or five days.

Thanks for this video. I’ve done all the weed scientific weed identifiers but your no-nonsense approach is probably better. I’ve used celsius, certainty, and drive xlr8. Still chasing weeds and I thought I misidentified the species but I probably just need to do multiple applications.

In the south also (FL WPB) I removed some old sod in a crescent drive way section and was trying to establish white clover. I randomly get these strange thin stalk like stems, that sorta of look like the ones you have in the video, but more fuzzy and open. I try and remove them as they appear, but since they grow taller than the clover, if you leave them alone, it makes the area look 'fuzzy'. (far away). Luckily the heats been killing them and just a handful left since I can't use weed killer since it kills clover too. I like the creeping effect of the white clover and the flower in that section because it's a little drought resistant and there's nothing in there except for plants. plus it's low growing but I randomly get those thin stalking things I described and it's annoying. If I mow over the area it's fine and everything looks green and normal but I'm trying to avoid mowing that area because I think I'm making them reproduce. They also hard to target up until they started appearing a little bit more longer because they just look like a normal stem.

I've nuked nutsedge grass and Dallasgrass with a 50/50 Image and glosphate mix and it's still beating me! Since moving to Alabama, I have come to the conclusion that the only thing that grows well here, is cancer, weeds and the Roll Tide Football coach's salary.

What can you use to spray for broadleaf in the summer. Also. Would you fertilize at all in the summer. My yard was almost perfect till about the 4th of July. Then the clover and goose grass and some wire grass Is getting bad. I have about 50000 sq feet in lawn. Thanks so much love your videoes. I’m in southern pa.
@mikewest7122 жыл бұрын
In case this goes unanswered here is my opinion. 24d in the summer for broadleaf,msm turf a close 2nd. If you have the water summer is the time to fertilize any grass. Especially after the 4th. I have been using pre emergents into late spring and summer to eliminate all those late summer weeds.
@derrickm43272 жыл бұрын
It depends on your truff type. Celsius is a good summer product to use since there isn't a temp restriction. Don't use 24D if you have st augustine.

I’m in Savannah GA, Goosegrass is rampant, broom sedge, there’s also a weed that I can’t identify. It looks like a smaller version of goosegrass but has a different looking seed head. Tenacity turns it white but doesn’t really kill it. I’m afraid to bump the concentration when I make a batch of tenacity because I’m afraid of killing everything else.

Crabgrass is hard invasive weed! Pull every (every, every, every) before you can see seed! But, Jason, you don't know how is big problem il lawn weed called "spoted spurge". That Zoysia looks like crap. It's not very dense, at least compared to my Zenith Zoysia. For Goosegrass, if you can tolerate a little shock or some degree of injury, Tenacity (Mesotrione) will work on Goosegrass, especially as a pre-emergent if you have a hard freeze. If it's young, a 1/2 strength of Meso will likely get the job done too if you need to treat the yard with kid gloves. I have hard freezes so that works to my benefit. MSMA or QuickSilver (I forget which) will also knock down Goosegrass. Last year I did a 600 sq. ft. test bed of Ryegrass/KBG, but high temps and no rain killed 250 sq. ft. Having no choice but reseed, I put down Zenith Zoysia seed and killed 2,000 sq. ft. with Glyphosate. The 600 sq. ft. from last year is 99% weed free. I'm sad to say my Goosegrass lawn is filling in nicely for about 300 sq. ft. Cutting by hand with knife at the main root for 30-60 minutes every day isn't enough to keep up. Mowing at
