What a great review of such an affordable flex writer, performance is much better than some others on the market and for the price it cannot be beaten. BTW love your "flex".

Greetings from Monaco! Your handwriting is beautiful, as is this rather nice pen. Its nib spreads ink most generously, is very flexible and I'm sure it will pleasure to many. (Incidentally, I also left some comments on two of your older vids: 'Why Are We Attracted to Expensive Pens?', 'Nibs' and 'Faber-Castell E-motion Croco' review that made me decide to buy the Croco, so it can be for outdoor use as my beloved Visconti stays indoors with the parrot! I'll be interested in your comments.) As for this pen's issues, I hope Jeffrey will address these problems because these should not have happened to an $80 pen. For some, paying out $80 can be quite a lot when they have groceries to buy and every cent counts. Thank you for your presentation. I thoroughly enjoyed it! ♥️

I do ink and watercolor art and I love practicing my penmanship. This checks ALL of the boxes for me. I just ordered it for a myself for as my 45th birthday gift to myself. Flex pens are def my jam and this one seems like it was made for me. I tried that whole Frankenpen thing with the Jinhaou and a Zebra G-Nib. NOPE. That was more headache for not much payoff.

Lets face it, more than likely if any of us had an F1 can and it was legal to drive on the streets we would drive it about everywhere, including to get groceries. Likewise we could all write with a ballpoint, but we choose not to because we appreciate what to us is a better writing experience.At least I know that's how I would be, and I would certainly drive 5mph down main street, because the irony of of an F1 doing 5mph amuses me.

Then you have an F1 car, make your purchases and have someone deliver them, they will be happy to just to gawk at your F1 car. May not be the best solutions, but I've got your back. Though I've used several, the best flex nib I use is the vintage Esterbrook fp flex nib in a Model J. Just the right amount and flex and spread for me. One thing is for sure: the flex nib that may work perfectly for one person certainly is not the best for another. Very individual...

The pen body I believe is actually made by Lorelei, it seems to be identical to the Lorelei 691 (in build and colors). The nib is similar as well- I’m pretty sure this is a rebranded Chinese acrylic pen, possibly with a different flexy nib.
@ghostyku
@ghostyku 3 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid not. This pen is an original handmade design by a Singaporean who is well known in the Singapore fountain pen community. If anything, there are actually lots of bluedew inspired pens appearing ever since the debut of this pen last year.

@gabemadorma2933 3 жыл бұрын
@@ghostyku it’s not conclusive evidence, but I’m yet to see any claim or footage from blue dew (websight/Instagram) that suggests he turns the acrylic pens himself. The Lorelei 691 seems to predate it and be completely identical besides branding and a slightly different looking nib. It’s possible that he designed it and outsourced the manufacturing or something idk

@@LuvsSno i have one fpr ultraflex ,I haven't been able to get an ultra fine upstroke still very fine, but I have seen others do it. I think it might be ink choice maybe a dryer ink (which I haven't tried yet) may help also the other person who was able to do it was a much more experienced flex / calligraphy writer so that maybe part of it as well. Also it seems the Gold nib might be better.

I have one of these pens--a "Strontium Red" one, and I like the way it writes, although I don't do calligraphy. You can buy extra screw-in nibs for this pen; $35.00 ea.Stephen didn't mention it, but the pen has a strong "butyrate" odor. If I decide to get another of these pens, I will buy the Emerald colored one.

@sbrebrown hi there. If you had to chose between this pen AMD a R615 Fountain pen with fine flex nib and a polymer feed, which would you prefer to have and enjoy? I ask your opinion because I trust what you have to say about pens. You have used, held, written, worked with, etc., and I have never had a chance to even hold a pen in my hands before buying one because there are literally no pen stores anywhere near where I live. Idk if there is even one in my state. So I hope you will give me some good advice on which you like more and why so that I can make a good decision on which to purchase. Or if there is a flex nib pen you think is even better than both of those pens that isn’t $500 or more then please let me know. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing back from you. I hope you will take a moment to help a fella out. Cheers

Oh the pen is by The Good Blue. The R615 fountain pen from the Taw Series. All their pens are sold out and idk when or if they are ever coming back and they don’t even tell you the price of any of the pens at all. So they could be $1,000 or more! I can’t afford that. Anyway. Thanks again.

I am sorry to say it, a dip nib hack job selling for $100? Let alone the acrylic construct is very much made in China, similar pen there even retail sells for just $18 or so, not to mention the OEM cost is gonna even be lower. That pen case, cost maybe 2 dollars. Now, let's talk about the nib, we are talking about fountain pen right? Where's the "iridium point" or alloy tipping. Fountain pen is design to endure daily use, this pen is likely to wear out in a month's use the most. I am sorry, if ever, I need a dip nib hack job pen, I will get one of those newer American brands that can do dip nib replacement easily, and, as a bonus, they can swap back to normal fountain pen nib too.

This is the ultimate; a stable, permanent calligraphy nib in a fountain pen package, high quality, with pen case, all for $100. No more modding calligraphy nibs into a fountain pen only to have it rust within a few days.

do you know why it doesn't rust? It seems amazing to me that it's taken so long for someone to make this - I assumed it was impossible to do without the nib rusting or something like that. The fact it is possible just makes me disapointed that nobody did it before!

My guess is these pens are furnished from the same manufacturer, on commission, hence the different brand marks. Jeff offers his pen in a very nice pen sleeve, and sells under his own responsability. Those things jack up the price considerably, but might be worth it. The consumer has to decide for himself. Edit: Jeff got them not only to put his brand on it but also to make some extra cuts in the nib, which make it considerably more flexy, according to pen reviewer Rathbun.
